A screenshot of the luxe game engine website stating: No Gen "Al" We reject the current version of generative tools for code and art. They are not welcome in our engine, or our community as they are not compatible with our ethics, standards or goals. We focus on human centered creativity and empowerment. (Like this art, by Gabriele Pala)
We’ve updated the @luxeengine.com website to include an additional section about our philosophy and standards!
Generative “AI” is not welcome in our game engine or community, their current incarnation is not compatible with our ethics, standards or goals. We don’t compromise and don’t need to ✨
If you haven't yet, you can join us on the luxe community forum and introduce yourself here! #createwithluxe

I saw you mention code first that’s a good fit with how we use luxe ✨ e.g the first tutorial is immediate style cos for a long time people assumed it was editor first and would get a bit off track cos of it being the primary path atm (means code focused and tools for content things)
Yea happy to detail anything as needed!
hello! it's on the FAQ about source, but the model is kinda based on sustainability and right now, open source is a time sink we can't sustain among many other things. the issue isn't people having the source, it's other stuff. so e.g if you were making a game and reasonable, you'd easily get source
We’re on sale for our biggest discount yet: 35% off!
Game Informer said 1000xRESIST is “one of the most groundbreaking stories in video game history.”
So run, don’t walk, to grab our Peabody award-winning game!
Can take a look at @luxeengine.com fwiw, happy to hear thoughts or answer stuff while we’re documenting (there’s a pixel art template, tile editor, and arcade physics to quickly dive into prototypes)
My blog post about how software rendered depth based occlusion culling in Block Game functions is out now! enikofox.com/posts/softwa...

Thanks for the shout, happy to answer questions about 2D or 3D state etc, always depends on your experience and expectations as to what fits your needs but we’re making all kinds of fun magic ✨
@sophieh.itch.io might know
curiously though they do use game engines to render stuff these days, virtual sets are a whole thing. see here for example www.unrealengine.com/en-US/blog/f...
I made the first and last (minus the character drawing) - that and the rest is @pomidori.studio !

Happy new year!
If you're looking for #gamedev fun, learning and expanding your skills, why not try luxe game engine?
You can dive straight into the high level and enjoy a foundation that makes things easy, or you can deep dive and take absolute control over how your game works. you can have both!
workflow matters, it's why @luxeengine.com has rapid iteration using a scripted language at it's heart even if other languages are an option it's important that part is first
looking forward to feedback if you have time! anything in particular you wanted to tinker with?
Crossy castle too then

(doesn't GGJ partner with AI sponsors and stuff? might not fit with @pixelneighbor.bsky.social ideals)
yea someone reported that, easy to fix. It’s just a screenshot of the old tutorial game running on the switch! Cos we’re shipping our games on console those will land later this year. no current plans for mobile but it does work there before, others can maintain it in future but not a priority
but yea we did get a recent report as well, it's on my investigate list cos I had solved this for years and more recent distro versions have revived it somehow :c it's solvable though
ah this aspect is pretty fickle, if it's too old it won't work if it's too new it won't work, the goldilocks of glibc compat is really awkward atm. Might be something distroshelf or similar can help with? run it inside a distroshelf container with the versions needed!
yep! it's an interesting problem to get bigger. at least they make games and samples! other engines just don't which is a harder problem
