Scottish Lib Dems itching for return to the big time with 'monumental' Holyrood election

It is clear that the Scottish Lib Dems are on the cusp of being flung back into the big time - at a crucial moment for Liberal voices to be heard amid the noise created by Nigel Farage’s Reform UK and both Labour and the Tories shifting to the right in reaction.

The Lib Dems are eyeing up 10 constituencies this time around. In at least eight of them, it looks like the party has a very good chance of winning. Two others, Argyll and Bute and Inverness and Nairn, could be winnable if the party has a good night and some fortune.

Liberal Democrats are winning again.

We are poised to take constituencies off the SNP right across Scotland.

In seats right across the Highlands, in Argyll and Bute, Strathkelvin and Bearsden and Edinburgh Northern, it is only the Liberal Democrats who can beat the SNP.

Edinburgh councillor starts campaign to improve safety on “scary” Leith junction - Deadline News AN EDINBURGH councillor has launched a petition to urge his colleagues on the council to improve a notorious junction on Easter Road.

Leith is one of Scotland's (& the UK's) most densely populated neighbourhoods with loads of people walking, using a wheelchair, pushing a pram, or cycling down/across Easter Road.

But many drivers I spoke to also want to see calming measures & improvements. www.deadlinenews.co.uk/2025/10/10/e...

I had an emotional tour of the new North Edinburgh Arts building in Muirhouse today with @sannedd.bsky.social. Since I was elected I have worked with NEA and the previous UK Gov to get funding they deserved. It was wonderful to see the result of the investment which is having such an impact.

Thanks to the many residents who've been in touch with accessibility concerns on Leith Walk & Elm Row.

Piece-by-piece there are wee but significant changes planned, even if that means reviewing an Edinburgh-wide policy.

We live in a world where the US President has threatened tariffs and flirted with the idea of trade wars.

We must show Trump that the UK has alternatives and won’t be bullied into taking whatever he offers us- to do that, we need a closer, stronger relationship with Europe.
