i uh... think you found it
what was the joke?
A couple thoughts:
To me it shouldn't be vibes. There should be real crash data and user experience.
As a consumer the difference should mean something.
Not being able to assist at low speeds seems able-ist.
A step in the right direction. By investing in shelter units, we place more homeless individuals in a safe, protected environment. Adding housing availability will give Washingtonians more accessibility to resources and services to move their lives forward economically, socially, and physically.
I'm so excited to be hosting a screening of Changing Lanes on Monday 4/20 at the Laemmle Monica Film Center with filmmaker Ben Wolf and Santa Monica Mayor Caroline Torosis as part of Torched's 2nd birthday festivities.

In 2025, Urban launched the American Affordability Tracker to show how #affordability pressures are shifting and where they are hitting hardest.
Explore how Urban’s #research is helping translate fast-moving economic conditions into clear, accessible indicators.

Wild that allowing more homes disallowed a garage to ADU conversion.
Cities always say they can't possibly do it. Paris just went ahead and did it. In ten years. #LiveableCities #ActiveTransportation

Every ten years, Somerville reviews our "multi member bodies" (committees, commissions, working groups, and the like). I'm on the committee that's doing the review this year (thanks @mayorjakewilson.bsky.social!)
If you have thoughts on that topic, please shoot me a DM.

Japan has more than fifty of these Underground Automated Bicycle Parking Systems installed. They are mostly in the cities of Osaka and Tokyo.
"prep 'em"
Step 1: deliberately scare people with misinformation and lies about what a proposed policy or plan will do. Step2: wait for misinformed people to complain. Step 3: say that “clearly people are concerned,“ so we should “listen to the people“ and reject the plan. The Populist Playbook
Step 4: mainstream media “reports the controversy” rather than the fact it was manufactured, and the amplify the quotes of those who manufactured it.. Step5: other elected leaders who know the truth, still vote against the good plan or policy, because they’re too afraid of the “heat.“
Have you heard of “The Populist Playbook?”
A few years ago, I posted what I still consider one of my most important messages.
It was about “The Populist Playbook” that I’ve watched play out often over my 33+ years of city planning.
Since then, it’s only gotten worse.
Do the steps sound familiar?
I'm really excited to learn more about
@nithyaforthecity.bsky.social's ideas on how to reintroduce predictability to LA's housing market -- particularly for Missing Middle housing.
