I've been going to galleries my entire life and I don't understand why people fetishize them. If you have people willing to pay for your art then you are already doing better than the vast majority of artists who have their work in galleries. It's not very prestigious.

I think it's usually obvious when the intent of the artist is to arouse the viewer, but it can be hard when looking at older works of art because they thought a woman showing her ankles was provacative.
