I am positive that nearly everyone on Bluesky knows what this is about, but on the off chance there's some casual bama fan following me on here who doesn't, a here's good 2024 explanation from @bycasagrande.bsky.social

looks like alabama is currently outside of the top 12, surely the fanbase and selection committee will right this wrong before the final ranking
The story of the previous ownership is kind of insane, guy who actually cared about racing left the company he founded to try and start a far right political party in Austria (did not work), now his estranged daughter runs the company and mostly just wants to sell tracks to real estate developers
This is an odd-sounding headline but I think it's actually good for the Preakness given how bad at everything the previous IP owners are
The majority of Alabama's football assistants are getting new contracts, plus some other key staffers and coaches for other sports

Spent a lot of time thinking about Morgan Wallen, which isn't actually worth doing

Admittedly in the minority but I just don't think a unified national champion is good for college football so will not be in favor of messing around with anything else for the CFP's benefit
Candidly I think we should try and have less people sitting in SEC football stadiums for four hours on August 28 but heatstroke is a small price to pay for TV networks trying to shoehorn a longer playoff into a sport that doesn't need one I guess
If the proposed rule to move the start of the season to Week 0 goes though, Alabama's 2027 and 2028 season openers will automatically move dates according to the game contracts

NFL offseason: schedule reveal, combine, draft, free agency, etc
College football offseason: commissioners, administrators and retiree coaches begging congress for antitrust protections that the railroads don't get and also a barely perceptible "refreshed logo system"
The innovators over at the CFP never rest! This changes the sport forever!
missing the cut at the masters because of my heinously long wedges that everyone else on earth knows are a horrible idea, I am very intelligent
hot mic "jesus fuck" from big shot bob, golf is so beautiful
bryson in his hotel room tonight, youtube camera rolling, attempting to forge a new 56 degree that will fix his short game permanently
A few complaints in full, including one from a college station resident who apparently really hates weed
For the second year, multiple ESPN viewers filed obscenity complaints with the FCC that mention Nick Saban swearing on College Gameday, and once again, I got the complaints through a FOIA. Lots of Pat McAfee in here too

I admitted don't watch much college basketball outside of what I'm obligated to but it's sort of crazy that these two teams made the final four given that they seem to suck turbo ass
Kalen DeBoer on Alabama's QBs in second spring scrimmage: "I would say today wasn't their sharpest day..."

Popeyes removes franchisee for selling too much fried chicken. NASCAR removes driver for turning left at high rates of speed too much. Landscaping company removes lawnmower for cutting too much grass. Nashville FM radio station removes DJ for playing too much bad pop country etc
I for one think it would be very funny for the SEC to attempt to kick a school out for the sin of paying players too much money
Story on Alabama AD Greg Byrne suggesting conferences should eject schools that don't follow player compensation rules
www.al.com/alabamafootb...
I followed up and asked whether he was suggesting schools should get booted out of the SEC for breaking player compensation rules
Byrne: "There should be consequences for those actions."
Alabama AD Greg Byrne suggests that "we're going to see, I think, a potential crossroads on whether schools should be allowed to participate in conferences if they are choosing to not follow the rules" with regards to player compensation
counterpoint: instead of this we should stop trying to shoehorn a unified national champion into a sport where it's not needed
good shit here
flea jazz album: surprisingly good besides nick cave singing wichita lineman which is predictably Not Good and is the kind of country cover that's made for people who won't listen to country music and use "sportsball" unironically
Zac Brown in 2015: we have made three excellent albums and are among the only actually good artists to get radio airplay at the peak of the bro country movement
His band: yes
Zac Brown: what if we spend the next decade-plus making exclusively dogshit
His band: yes
