Same here. And, I agree, the movie wasn’t good. There was a British TV version in the 1970s that was better. The book is great, though.

This painting hangs in the Art Institute of Chicago. I saw it in October and took a photo. A few minutes later I deleted it. I just couldn’t have such an evil image on my phone.
The first toilet ever seen on a TV series was on Leave it to Beaver.
I finally saw “Sinners.” It was really good.

Take a moment today to be angry at the New York Times for whatever reason you're angry at it, but also be grateful for the news it brings you even if it doesn't phrase its headlines to your liking or uses the word "falsehood" when it maybe should have said "lie."

Outstanding storytelling.
Angel Down by Daniel Kraus has history and sci-fi and was my favorite book from 2025.
I was at Friday’s game. One of the coolest moments I’ve had at a Blackhawks game was seeing Commesso’s reaction to the national anthem. With a big smile on his face, he was in awe and drinking it in.
What’s going to be No. 251? May I recommend “Train Dreams”?
I can taste the ice cream cone.
Many Blackhawks fans are fed up with rebuilding. They made their voices heard in replies to my Davidson story yesterday.
And that's one big reason why other NHL franchises are so reluctant to take the rebuild leap.
The Hawks have become a test case. New column: chicago.suntimes.com/blackhawks/2...
I had the opportunity to do a TEDx Talk at my alma mater, Columbia College-Chicago. I shared my story of how my 38-year journalism career ended and how my role as a preschool family education coordinator for Illinois’s second-largest school district started. Here’s it is.

This is a fascinating analysis of how history and economics have shaped perspectives in not just industries, but how individual human beings feel about art they're creating. Like after all good articles, I'm now wondering about how other artists (Pip, Squeak, and Wilfred; Pogo; The Perishers) felt.
