It came online again late-ish (for us, anyway) last night. They got rid of "X" for gender and changed "gender" to "sex." Who knows what else they tinkered with? Glad you and Jack are set!

What's going on with passports? Someone we know tried to renew her passport and said website was down. I checked and this is what it says.
