Current mood: relaxed. Current location: a birthday party in Sebastopol. Ahhh.
Evergreen.
@jeopardyofficial.bsky.social The last daily double clue was wrong tonight. Ken said loitering out loud and the clue read loitering but you can’t add two letters to loitering to get “malingering.” Nobody noticed!
After months of hard work and fierce competition, we are ready to announce the winners of the 2026 Alameda Stars community awards. This was a lot of fun, I’m already looking forward to next year’s contest.

30 years ago today, I arrived in the Bay Area with purple hair, driving a Ryder truck full of all my stuff and towing my old Volvo. My friend John shared the driving and adventure of a cross country trip from Boston. It was so new and exciting then, but now I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else!
We’re on the @sfbayferry.com headed into SF for the My Chemical Romance show and hoping to get on the kiss cam.

A vintage yellow convertible Volkswagen beetle decorated with pride flags and eyelashes around the headlights
I just had a whole lot of fun driving this lovely Beetle, which is the same age that I am, at the front of Alameda‘s 4th of July parade! Happy Fourth and Happy Pride! #alameda #4thofJuly #pride #LoveWins
Apple News’ roundup at the end of the weekend of “biggest stories you missed” mentions Iran, assassinations in MN, a parade in DC, but no mention whatsoever of 12 million at No Kings. The source? @nbcnews.com whose top story about #nokings is about Afa Ah Loo, a bystander killed by ‘peacekeepers.’
My first homemade pecan pie, fresh from the oven. Thanks to Tamar and Scott Piehler for the recipe and Georgia pecans!
Two extremely good looking cats (yes they are siblings) are laying on the floor in a warm sunbeam, passed out and sun drunk and deeply content.
This afternoon’s sunbeam has claimed two victims. #catnap

Purple wisteria, flowers hanging off a vine, covering a shed in a backyard in Alameda, California
I keep trying to get rid of the wisteria that is literally tearing this old shed apart, but it keeps coming back and looking so damn pretty.
