Selfie of me (a handsome bearded man with glasses) wearing headphones in front of a large grassy field
Outstretched hand holding several civil war bullets in front of a large grassy field
Open dig hole in a grassy field. Inside the hole is an orange pinpointer (9" handheld metal detector). At the bottom of the hole is a civil war bullets in situ about a foot deep.
I recently returned from my biannual metal detecting trip searching the 1863-4 Union army winter encampments in Northern Virginia. Let's have a look!
A large hole, about 6' by 3', surrounded by piles of red clay dirt in a grassy field. Me (a very tired looking bearded man with glasses and a pink baseball hat), stands more than waist deep in the hole, resting his hands at grounding level. A water bottle rests on one of the dirt piles, and metal detecting equipment sits in the grass behind the hole.
That's it for now! I hope you enjoyed a sneak peak into my hobby of searching for history left behind!
