So, after attending the ACAS Conducting Investigations course Tue & Wed, it turns out grievance hearing and investigations are meant to be impartial!!!! Who knew?...well, actually...
I'm at ACAS' Conducting Investigations CPD today.
Scottish teachers have the right to fair, impartial grievance investigations but that's not the experience of the majority of teachers. Teachers say fear of retaliation stops them from reporting mistreatment.

This isn't just about giving teachers 'time and capacity'. We conducted a survey of 314 teachers - 84% said they had personally experienced it. Outright bullying, gas-lighting, retaliation for reporting mistreatment a common theme, reasonable adjustments ignored, humiliated in front of pupils...
how do we fix it? Is the problem too big? too widespread?
As a Scottish teacher, what gets you through the day? imo its the empathy, compassion, understanding and humour from other staff.
So, if you're one of the people who mistreats staff in your school, leaving them anxious, depressed, unable to sleep - can you please just stop being an arsehole? Thanks
EIS Renfrewshire will be at the march this Saturday 23rd Nov at 11.30am Glasgow Green, calling an end to arms sales to Israel and to stopping bombing of Gaza and Lebanon. Damage to education of CYP has been catastrophic, more than 80% of schools destroyed and CYP/ teachers affected by violence.
