I recently read The Everlasting by Alix E Harrow and this is genuinely what it felt like!

Well if there is something we know well it’s binging. I’ll give it a go then!
Isn’t it great when something you have built up in your mind turns out to be wonderful!
Author Arthur C Clarke stands in-front of a robot arm. The photo is black and white and he has a gentle smirk on his face. In bold white lettering it says ‘I’m sure the universe is full of intelligent life. It’s just been too intelligent to come here’
I love this quote. Sure it works on a surface ‘human dumb hurh durh’ level but also any sentient life in our universe may very well be literally too intelligent to even register us.
But also, what the hell are we doing right now?! 💙📚

Look I know I’m (Hugo) supposed to be learning to write better but I will never abandon the millennial exclamation mark spam!
You gotta build these funny oddball communities on these types of non algorithmic platforms. Feels much nicer and more organic
12 hours in a car is too many hours in a car u less there is ice cream at the end!

Welcome aboard!
But you didn’t use enough “ “ around “The best novel ever written” haha
All the while HAL is claiming that it literally can’t make mistakes…
An image of HAL 9000 with the ChatGPT logo blended into it. Underneath is the text ‘you’re absolutely right Dave!’
Currently reading Arthur C Clarke’s 2001: A Space Odyssey and I had to make this cause it’s all I could think about.
Not sure which I would prefer either, HAL 9000 or HAL GPT?

Well we are very pleased to have you aboard! We are reading Star of the Sea by Joseph O’Connor so don’t hesitate to read along :^ )
Black and white image of author L.R. Lam and a quote of hers say ‘‘Don’t you want to read about the twink with slutty little glasses falling in love with this hot bisexual knight?’ This is one of many excellent lines they said during our most recent podcast with them
We welcome @lrlam.bsky.social on the Binge Reading Bookclub Podcast!
We read The Everlasting by @alixeharrow.bsky.social. A marvellous fantasy that combines love, nation building, tragedy and time travel!
L also breaks down how Harrow utilises the time travel trope to best serve the plot.

‘Food product’ is very generous for what he makes :^ )
Yes! And fiction is important! Growing up I was all I wanted was non-fiction and it was my mum in all her wisdom that forced me to read fiction.
I must say, I used to fully addicted (maybe still am) to doom scrolling.
But reading regularly and with purpose has massively remedied this.
Even after just a couple of hours of reading a proper physical paper book, I feel calmer and my mood lifted.
I wonder if anyone else feels this way 🤔

L.R. Lam sits outdoors in a black blazer and cozy night scarf. The photo is in black and white. Superimposed is the quote ‘I sigh a bit when people complain about ‘politics in their fantasy’ as if it’s something new. All art is political, even if it crosses o uphold the status quo’
Delighted to be having *draws deep breath* USA Today and Sunday Times Bestselling award-winning author L.R. Lam on the podcast next week!
Lam will be dissecting The Everlasting by Alix E Harrow, and how it can help us improve our writing craft.

Someone has badly photoshopped the face of author Nicholas Binge over the face of Tim Robinson on the poster of The Chair Company. In matching fonts, someone has changed the poster to say ‘the speed binge’ and BRBC original. And at the bottom. Wherever you get your podcasts
Questions of the day - in these bizarre and trying times, how can fiction be any weirder than reality?
Best selling author @bingewriting.bsky.social breaks down HBO’s The Chair Company to help us understand if it’s weird fiction!
