Publicity graphic reads "Join Amal El-Mohtar on Tour" above side-by-side images of my headshot and my forthcoming book The River Has Roots. On the left, a photo of me with my dark hair in an updo, wearing red lipstick, long red-and-blue earrings, and a red velvet jacket over a dark blue dress with white flowers while looking to the right of the camera. On the right is the book cover of The River Has Roots, featuring colourful dahlias emerging from a stylized line zigzagging curvily from the top left to the bottom right of the cover.

Photograph of two copies of "Inventing the Renaissance" sitting on a table. One is flat on the table, the other standing on it. It's a gorgeous vivid orange, with Cellini's Perseus looming in black holding Medusa's severed head, with the title in white, the word "the" impaled by the sword. If you zoom in you can see the dust jacket has a gorgeous linen fiber paper texture. The sideways copy reveals the spine is very thick. But packed with history fun, I promise!
It exists!
Head of Zeus (the UK publisher) sent me a photo of it hot off the presses!
It has amazing textured paper!
It's so beautiful!
It's so orange!
It's so violent!

Our declutter day has turned into a run around for groceries and craft supplies to prepare for the incoming (likely sparse) snow so we can stay inside tomorrow day. Also known as procrastination in service to family time.
Cover of the book Wintering by Katherine May.
This book is a perfect antidote to our horrific current events. Coping lessons from books, nature, and mythology…. It’s a beautiful read. #Booksky 💙📚

Part joy in that there are so many ways for people to be fed and deep sorrow that they’re necessary.
Also, lots of people in my feeds offering spaces at their tables or even just a plate if a guest does not wish for company this Thursday.
Many thanks to NSCAP for again compiling their list of free Thanksgiving dinners being offered for folks in need here in #SalemMA and throughout the surrounding region. Please share!

No picture bc I’m making Christmas presents. I just spent a quiet afternoon at a brewery, crocheting, while spouse read new PHB for a family D&D game. Short interludes of conversation, but mostly focused on individual pursuits. Lovely

This weirdo. You’d think he was angling pets.
Because it’s fantastic! I read it bc of the Hugo nomination with no context of the historical references. I’m gearing for a reread with that setting in mind. This broke me open: “Recognizing the gramarye of dehumanization does nothing to prevent it from working its way upon his body and his mind”

Our little free library is used frequently, has become a cool sticker repository, and a landmark to give people directions to our home.
Things that bring joy 1/n:
Having this play on my way to work bc my adolescent (!) kids were watching Tangled in the car the other day.
