had a valid crashout in therapy about exactly this problem, everything is so fucked if you don't live in a walkable city (and there are only maybe a handful of those in each state)

AGAINST ALL ODDS, THOSE WHO BELIEVED BLUESKY THAT THE CRASH WAS DUE TO A DDOS
AND THOSE WHO DIDN'T BELIEVE BLUESKY AND WERE SURE IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE AI VIBE CODING
WERE
BOTH
RIGHT
I like bluesky because it feels so much like tumblr
1. barely works
2. userbase is annoying (affectionate)(not that affectionate)
3. being queer on here feels like I’m actively participating in ruining some tech company’s investment
This is the single funniest thing I have ever seen Bluesky staff do.
BLUESKY IS A WEBSITE THAT TURNS (post by jay.bsky.team claiming that bluesky is made with AI) INTO (picture of bluesky not working)
golfing with some friends and discussing hole and stroke nomenclature
"double condor? that's actually just less effective than using a single condor"
There should be something where you get money just for being alive on account of you need it to live
portfolio day? here's an old demo reel. pay me money to write music for you 👉

Another thing people don’t talk about when talking about people’s happiness - beyond inequality - is the level of alienation and anti sociality that has, in my view, gotten worse. I don’t think it’s just phones causing that. People are more surveilled, more lonely, more public space is policed etc
the extent to which so many men are sex pests is just baffling and depressing
you can just Not Do That
there is shit that's hard for me! remembering to take in the trash cans is hard! checking the calendar is hard! starting a design doc is hard! not being a sex pest: not that hard
tweet by TragicAllyHere reads Before I take a shower: I hate it in there, the wet world is a bad place While in the shower: I remember now that this is a good place, it is the dry world that is the enemy
this post rewired me
Ahem.
The reason rules like this exist is to prevent employers from intentionally understaffing and making people do extra work outside their job description. If you've ever waited tables and been asked to clean the bathroom, you know why unions bargain for these punitive measures.
“Since cars have killed the city, we need faster cars to escape on superhighways to suburbs that are even farther away. What an impeccable circular argument: give us more cars so that we can escape the destruction caused by cars.”
Written in 1973, when the destruction was just beginning.
bad public transit and car-centric infrastructure are a national security risk
Please please PLEASE show support to all of the Iranians in your life right now. Here’s a starter pack of all of the amazing Iranian artists and creatives I know!!

As an aside
US missiles need ammonium perchlorate. The only domestic source is a facility in Cedar City, Utah
US missiles also need RDX & HMX. The only domestic source is a facility in Kingsport, Tennessee
US missiles also need engines. The only domestic source is a facility in Pontiac, Michigan
Bellisimo.
I am crashing out too.
a cool thing about "cd's" is you push one button and it plays an entire album of music ad free and then (unless you request otherwise) it just stops and awaits further instruction. a very elegant system.
many happy returns of the day!!!
if i do my makeup to look haunted and sleep-deprived, they'll never know i'm actually haunted and sleep-deprived 🔑
behold the skypirate
the hollow look is on purpose lmao
obviously in order to truly fix the problem, certain institutions need to be dismantled at every level, and weirdo multimillionaires have to be crucified in public
also im not sure where this fits into everything, but there has to be some way for "hello gay people in my phone" to coexist with "it's bc you always on that damn phone" and i think the solution is that phones have to be stupider
i will not die unless i am killed, and i'm not gonna be the one to fuckin do it
isolation is starvation
it's fucked up how many of these things are constantly under attack, systemically and directly.
and it CAN be fixed* by reducing distance between each other (like, walkably);
creating spaces to Be Around People Normal Style, voluntarily, invitationally, or incentivized;
holy shit stuff can be free
i am not alone in my need to preserve expression and identity into the future, and protect those things from erasure
this is the right to own the things you work for
it's the right to live as yourself
it's the human drive to tell stories
it's the basic need for community and social spaces
gonna try to paraphrase a revelation i had in therapy in a way that isn't super vague, and it's going to be difficult bc it's kinda everything
fucking character limit, ok so this is a thread whatever
