New book by @caglayanbaser.bsky.social :

Women rebels make their groups seem more democratic, gender equal, and less violent in the eyes of foreign audiences, even when they are shown as perpetrators of violence. This translates into more actual foreign support for the rebel group.

Just published. A Turkish-language history of the Soviet Union, written with @onurisci.bsky.social. Somewhat in the way that Dan Diner asked in Cataclysms how 20th-century history might be told looking out from Odesa, we approach Soviet history with Turkish connections/comparisons in mind.

After 10 years of doing research in Historical Political Economy, this fall I’ll finally get a chance to teach a survey course on the field & I’m really looking forward to it! 😊

I thought this would be an opportunity to create a syllabus with many essential contributions to this growing field.
