There is much ill to say of the police in this nation. None of it is to be said of the people who serve in these positions. Like social media manipulation does mean that:
— voters got false information about candidates
— bad actors encouraged people not to vote
— anonymity protects but is also a vehicle for disinformation

That’s just how the thing is now! Online trust is tenuous/damaged! Them’s the breaks

People on this app get really angry every time I point out that social media manipulation is a real phenomenon that we are all stewing in and that’s having real world consequences and I’m sure part of that is engagement farmers who do that manipulation not liking people talking about it

I cannot emphasize enough how true & real this is.

In almost anywhere on the political spectrum you ID with or major issue, there’s probably a bot/troll operation to encourage your rage and vitriol.

And how/where that rage gets directed, esp understandable rage, is what they are out to influence.

The most LOATHED thing you can do is invoke a sitting politician's voting record. NOTHING will weaponise a @democrats.org blind-loyalist AGAINST democracy like a direct quotation of his favourite candidate's voting record.
