As someone who worked at a coal power plant until 2021, the same is true for fossil fuels. We had already been paid for our output months in advance but because the power needed was less than demand when the time came, we were paid to stay off as well. It was a huge cash cow and yes we gamed it.

OMFG I had to go and check that this ACTUALLY happened.

Since when does the BBC ever do chyrons with a political party's branding, rather than their own? Not to mention this is during a pre-election campaign purdah.

Perhaps - just perhaps - whisper it quietly- the blame does lie with them?

Braverman - twice Conservative Home Secretary - in a period that saw record migration figures.

They really do think people are dumb.

*BBC political reporters roll their sleeves up, picking up the gauntlet to hold even chummier, more accountability-free interviews never touching on his unfitness for office & multiple scandals*

Since Trump has trouble distinguishing what someone in the medical profession looks like, here is a picture of a lifesaving professional.

The Tories have a shameless brass neck going on the media every day complaining about the state of HM Forces. Gillian Keegan a prime example on GMB this morning. Infuriating as very little pushback

Charges would need to be sent to DoJ and there’s no way they’ll proceed with it

I've been watching various MAGA on US news channels. This seems to be the messaging that they are pushing hard. Fuel at $20 a gallon? Inflation rocketing to 98%?? Yeah but imagine the damage when Iran drops a nuke on UK/Italy/France.... fill in a location of choosing. Just so shameless.

BBC News leading all its bulletins on demands by former Government advisor Lord Robertson for more defence spending, without at any point mentioning his current paid senior role for US defence lobbyists

Of course not. His name isn’t Angela Raynor so nothing to see here… move along…

With it revealed yesterday that Reforms Tice failed to pay £91,000 in tax now’s a good time to highlight this👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼

I’m sick to death of Reform’s gross hypocrisy, and that MSM studiously ignores it❗️🤬

We need more journalists like @adambienkov.bsky.social who revealed £91K & @bylinetimes.bsky.social👏🏼👏🏼

I'm guessing that the same media that hounded Angela Raynor for weeks for a fraction of the amount, will be all over this....

So far, Vance’s foreign policy record is yelling at Zelensky for not thanking Trump enough, campaigning for AfD in Germany and Orban in Hungary, getting rejected by the Pope on his invite to the US, and failing in the Iran negotiations.

We have gone from "the US doesn't need the Strait of Hormuz, Europe does, they should open it, it will open naturally" to "good news, Iran is opening the Strait of Hormuz (for a toll)" to "the toll is illegal and we will blockade the Strait of Hormuz because the United States will not be extorted"

I dare say Viktor Orban wasn't that chuffed with an enthusiastic endorsement from the orange idiot and a cringeworthy visit from Vance. Trump is pretty toxic atm even with some of his sheep.

Nor sure he'll be that bothered as long as he can continue the grift

First time I've watched Kuenssberg in a while because the decent, professional journalist Victoria Derbyshire is standing in. Wish it was permanent

And that graph hides something as well. Cameron folded the military pensions into the defence budget in 2015. So % of gdp showed a rise despite simultaneous cuts being made. Slight of hand to get a rise above 2%

I served for 25 years from 1985 and used to internally scream when the usual media outlets continually said the Tories were the party of Defence. The gaslighting has never stopped

No incoming Conservative Govt. since 1952, ever left office with defence spending at a higher level from when they came in. The Conservatives are not the party/Govt. of the armed services.
