writers
publishing is full of
disappointments
heartbreak, feeling overlooked, misunderstood
seeing those things that someone else
did or got or experienced.
feel your feelings! wallow a beat.
it hurts to not feel seen.
just don't stay in that negativity.
find your way back to actually writing.

shot of terracotta warriors Terracotta Army in Xi'an, China: Life-sized, highly detailed figures dating from 200s BCE, standing in four columns, in fifteen or so rows, all in head-high trenches
Have been *extremely* out of town (see pic for proof!), but I'm back!
Soooo Very Sleepy...! BUT! Some April "stuff":
My Lightspeed Magazine aka @lightspeedmagazine.com review of Sauúti Terrors edited by Eugen Bacon, Stephen Embleton, and Cheryl S. Ntumy

Baihe Tower in Wuzhou looks over the Gui and Xun rivers, as well as where they meet and become the Xi river. Part of a park dedicated to celebrating freedom from British colonialism. Worth a visit if you happen to be in Wuzhou, China!
Breakfast - delicious, freshly made rice noodle dish, steamed in a round bamboo palette! The kind of tiny place locals go but otherwise you'd walk by without knowing the wonderful food you're missing.
Black and Brown folks who come to this country have always been subjected to various kinds of racism, from direct physical attacks to biased hiring practices to stereotypes and social stigma and more -
Easy, vulnerable targets for racism and bigotry: great tools to direct the ire of ignorant ppl
Some folks have compared the anti-vigilante task force in the new season of Daredevil to ICE, which is cute and fun and makes sense
And superhero comic books have been a platform to discuss current events since their beginning
But don't forget that ICE is not sudden racism, not out of the blue...
This image shows the Yongningmen (South Gate) of the ancient city wall fortifications in Xi'an, China. A massive wall with an archery building behind it.
Shot from the ancient fortification wall of Xi'an looking towards the historic Bell Tower of Xi'an, with tall buildings framing the central road.
Currently alllll the way out of town!
All the same... if you haven't yet, check out this piece on the experiences of authors of color in SFF publishing!
