The US Ambassador's residence is in the Phoenix Park and the US Embassy is in Ballsbridge, quite some distance from O'Connell Street.
The Martin-Harris-Lowry axis of uselessness can take blame for a lot but they don't control the global oil prices.

Thanks to the Dublin People for reporting on progress I've been making with the National Transport Authority for a Dublin Mountains bus service from Dundrum.
In other news, our petition has now gone beyond 1,000 signatures! Add your voice here: change.org/dublin-mountains-bus
This crossing was something I made a pre-election promise on, and I'm thrilled to let you know that it'll be installed in the coming months.

Dublin City Council took up a crucial question this week: how many homes should we build, and where?
Building our way out of the housing crisis has to be at the core of our thinking, otherwise the crisis will just roll on.
We do daytime culture brilliantly in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown, but our night-time offering could be - and used to be - so much better
Research is not a ‘gig economy’ Green Party responds to Trinity funding loss Following the announcement that up to 150 research positions at Trinity College Dublin (TCD) are at risk, the Green Party has called for a fundamental overhaul of the Government’s approach to research funding. Speaking on the immediate uncertainty facing researchers in Ireland, Green Party Spokesperson for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science and Councillor for Stillorgan, Eva Dowling said: “Research should not be treated like a ‘gig economy’. The situation at Trinity College Dublin is the direct result of a fundamental flaw in how the Government treats research, science and innovation. Successive ministers have prioritised short-term 'ribbon-cutting' exercises over building a robust, world-class research ecosystem. I have written to the Minister asking that he engage with the affected research staff, universities and unions urgently. The ongoing uncertainty in the science community is unacceptable. ” Green Party Leader Roderic O’Gorman TD added: “Ireland punches above its weight when it comes to excellence in research but we cannot build a sustainable knowledge economy on a precarious funding model. Countries we admire like Denmark and Switzerland have built thriving indigenous research, startup and enterprise sectors with: strong doctoral pipelines; deep public-private collaboration; and a national commitment to translating research into home-grown companies. To make this possible we need a robust, sustainable long-term commitment to funding research across all disciplines, making research a viable career path for graduates in Ireland.”

📣Good news: the Cabinteely Greenway is approved!
€20bn MetroLink price tag misleading Madam — Your report last week claimed that Dublin’s MetroLink “is expected to cost more than €20bn” (‘Metrolink workers could be housed in pre-fabs, officials suggest’, March 1). The latest cost estimate for MetroLink is around €9.5bn. The higher figure is an unlikely worst-case scenario. It is neither factual nor fair to present it as the expected cost. It’s misleading and confusing and undermines public confidence in a much-needed project. Councillor Feljin Jose, Phibsboro, Dublin 7
Facts matter. Quoting a worst case scenario figure as the estimated cost for a project is incredibly damaging for such a vital project. I'm glad they took my letter though!
The country needs more homes built. But in our area, it seems our calls for good planning are being ignored.
I spoke with David McCullagh recently on the need for government to build schools in our area - the area that's delivering more homes than any other. 1/2
Ireland cannot outsource its future to FDI alone. Research Ireland’s long-anticipated strategy does not match the scale of the opportunity that exists in Ireland, nor the urgency, given the ongoing geopolitical disruption

There’s still time to check seanadvoter.ie and get registered for the new Seanad Higher Education constituency before the February 26th deadline.

Drone technologies are moving fast - and legislation needs to keep pace 🚁
My bill to regulate commercial drone activity will this week advance to second stage in the Dáil. The Bill sets out clear rules on planning permission and noise complaints as drones become more common in our skies.

1/2 In light of the violations by Grok the X AI chatbot let's look at the gap in Irish law.
There's an apparent and dangerous gap in the law. Under Coco's law that got enacted in 2020 the sharing of deepfake and harmful content is illegal so is the using of such material for harrassment. However

We are ready for the Galway West By-election 💪
Delighted that my nomination as Green Party Candidate for Galway West By-election has now been ratified by the executive. Looking forward to working with members and supporters in the campaign ahead.
Traffic in Dublin has gotten crazy the past few weeks. But the new government is taking money away from public transport projects that could deal with it.
We could have had a new DART station and improved lines at Heuston and Kylemore Road in Ballyfermot. But no. Roads instead.
We now have Green Mayors in 5 EU capitals!” shows a simplified map of Europe with five highlighted countries. Circular portraits of five mayors appear around the map, each connected by a colored arrow to their respective capital city: Sisse Marie Welling (Copenhagen, Denmark), Femke Halsema (Amsterdam, Netherlands), Viesturs Kleinbergs (Riga, Latvia), Gergely Karácsony (Budapest, Hungary), and Tomislav Tomašević (Zagreb, Croatia). Each portrait includes a small national flag and the label “Green Mayor of” followed by the city name.
🌻 We are so proud of our 5 Green mayors of EU capital cities as they show the way for all cities in their countries and in Europe.
💚 Local elections have the most direct impact on our day-to-day.
It starts at the local level and then spreads to national.
We won't always make popular decisions but at the very least we could make fair decisions.
Fine Gael & Fianna Fáil would prefer to angrily shut down debate, rather than hear criticism of their rent hikes on the least well off while giving the maximum tax cut to homeowners.
