Wow, Wilson is remarkably bad at this.

And Tim Miller is a national treasure. It took him ten seconds to clock that gasbag. Those air quotes around “pastor” and “Christian” and the “I’m just gonna call you Doug” — devastating.

Also: “We’re all on a journey together, Piers” 😂

Also crazy when they’re like, “Isn’t it suspicious that Trump immediately started asking how it played on TV?” HAVE YOU MET DONALD TRUMP??

It’s crazy when people are like, “There was no investigation.” There were literal Senate hearings! The head of the Secret Service resigned! Multiple agents were suspended or lost their jobs! You think they were all in on some coverup? For what?? SMH.

I would. And if I were the editor of the journal, I would want you to.

This volume was a long time coming -- in the meantime, I actually left academia, and I have no plans to write more in the field of medieval lit or Shakespeare. But I do hope current teachers will find my chapter interesting -- it's titled "Merlin and the Fool: Teaching Arthur through Shakespeare."

Teaching the Arthurian Tradition From the Middle Ages to the present, legends of King Arthur and his court have prompted readers to contemplate leadership and community, love and loyalty, the spiritual realm, and more, and the tales ...

I have a chapter on teaching Arthurian literature through Shakespeare's King Lear in this new anthology from @modernlanguage.bsky.social -- "Teaching the Arthurian Tradition," edited by Dorsey Armstrong and Arielle McKee. Available (at long last) on May 29th!

I recently took my 12-year-old daughter to see Little Shop of Horrors off-Broadway, without knowing it was the same songwriter (Alan Menken) as Little Mermaid. Little Shop is darker, but there’s a very direct line from Seymour to Ariel, and from the evil plant to Ursula.

Wait until you see what he does to the American church in Elmer Gantry.

We need to bring Japan-style 7/11s and FamilyMarts to New York City. I don’t know why it hasn’t happened already.

I doubt any of them will pay for a drink at a bar ever again 😄

Those Navy guys are just basking in the presence of these real-life superheroes.

Great — thanks!

Congratulations! Who is your favorite horror writer? And is there a lesser-known writer in the genre you think we should all read?

I second Emily's recommendation for this show that's running just one more week at TFANA in Brooklyn. Seriously one of the best Shakespeare-related productions I've ever seen (and I've seen hundreds of them!).

I wonder if they think those tight little bikini-top vests with the fanny packs look cool.

Congrats — this looks amazing! (And I loved The Unmothers.)

Sofia Petrovna Check out Sofia Petrovna - Sofia Petrovna is Lydia Chukovskaya's fictional account of the Great Purge. Sofia is a Soviet Everywoman, a doctor's widow who works as a typist in a Leningrad publis...

You don't have to read the book in advance to participate, but it's only ~100 pages. It's a great ground-level view of what happens to a society when secret police take over and the government tells brazen lies. It might have some contemporary relevance, we'll see ...

Idk if any of my former students follow me here. But:

Tuesday, April 21, 6:30 PM, at Central Presbyterian on Park Ave. & 64th, I'll join The King's College NYC alumni group to discuss a great work of anti-authoritarian fiction, the novella "Sofia Petrovna" by Lydia Chukovskaya. Details on Facebook!

A beloved character people had named their kids after went full fascist for no apparent reason.

But turn up the lighting on your TV for that dark episode, and it's actually pretty great! Especially Lyanna slaying the giant.

The Confidence-Man isn’t exactly an easy read, but it’s an underrated classic and full of little gems like this.

Penn vs. Del Toro is like over-the-top insanity vs. understated brilliance. They're both great but in completely different ways.

You’re an inspiration. I’ll read any story you have to tell.

A lot of actors from those shows are also in my favorite movie, The Ghost and Mr. Chicken, so I consider it part of the same cinematic universe.

Wow, disappointing that Weijia Jiang is the one making this embarrassing statement — until now, she was well known for standing up to Trump in press conferences.

The show had lots of shocking moments, but it’s hard to convey just how shocking/thrilling, in the moment, the last two episodes of the first season were. They set the tone.

(Then I got a little lost with all the new characters in season 2, but maybe that’s just me. 😄)

This is why she wanted the hearing to be public. But why won’t she name names? Which members asked about UFOs and Pizzagate?

If it weren’t for the art on the walls, this would look like the most boring conference room with the cheapest catering your boss was willing to spring for. It’s like they’re in a faculty meeting.
