Remember how when Monster Hunter Wilds came out there were like swathes of people who wanted to ascribe moral agency to a wild animal?

Say what you will about the internet, it remains awesome that I can buy dinner for a friend who's having a shitty-ass day from halfway across the world
I’m having a normal one today
I need to finish my Canaan rewatch
People who ask “if evil, why hot?” are cowards!
I want to go down on Liang Qi for hours BECAUSE she’s an utterly reprehensible monster! The crimes against humanity only make her hotter!
“Interesting bad” or “boring bad?”
Is Heavy Object any good? Frolaytia is super hot, and I’m not above watching an anime because my libido tells me to, but I’d just like to feel it out first
…do. The three and a half hours felt—appropriately—quite truncated to a fraction of that, and it was only when I was finished had I noticed that the sun had risen and was shining brightly. It’s my new favorite H.G. Wells story.
19: The Time Machine by H.G. Wells.
So this is one of the handful of Wells’a most iconic stories that I’d slept on. Therefore, in light of my haul, I figured it pertinent I remedy that.
Yeah so I read this thing in a single sitting which, while it is a fairly short read, is NOT something I normally…
The haul
Gonna clean my room then post pics later
I picked up a bunch of old mass market paperbacks. They're all short, and most of them are things I've read before (hell, one of them is probably LITERALLY one of my old copies of a book I sold years ago--it's worn in all the same places), so some of them'll probably be up next on the media thread
However, it’s very much *just* fun, which, when held up against Huckleberry Finn…
Yeah.
Anyway, I don’t know if I’ll be going right into The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn next. I have some errands to run, and then I actually have some other books I’ve been meaning to read coming in today.
18: The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain (re-read)
I’d been meaning to revisit Huck Finn, but Eight Graves got me in the mood for a story that features a treasure hunt. Thus, I preceded it with Sawyer.
It’s a rather cold take to say I prefer its sequel. I think Tom Sawyer is a very fun book.
I drew Hilda / ヒルダ
I drew Nonoka / ののか
...there's a good chance it's just better to use just one of those activity slots to have your income at the start of the next adventure.
There ARE also ways to mitigate this, but they require you use one of your three between-adventure activity slots to bank it (and another one if you want to withdraw it).
There's a chance, though, that you'll LOSE it doing this, as the bank uses your money on investments.
Depending on your career...
...because they just don't have as much immediate use for it, and what uses there ARE are more along the lines of "rainy day" situations that never come.
For one, I think it's actually really in-line with stories like Conan and Fafhrd & The Gray Mouser--I'd bet money that at least a quarter of those stories start with "...so our intrepid hero lost all their wealth gained."
Also, famously, in D&D players have a habit of sitting on MOUNTAINS of gold...
One of the funnier mechanics of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4th Edition that initially disliked but I'm actually kinda coming around on is that it's straight up written into the rules that players lose all their accrued money between adventures 'cause they spend it all drinking and whoring.
17: Lucy
Found it!
Yeah so like I said in my last post, its themes concept both felt kind of half-baked. I feel like trying to juggle being an action/crime thriller with the psychic singularity stuff…I’m not gonna say it CAN’T EVER be done, but this just wasn’t the story to pull it off.
…action thriller, and they had to split the difference.
…mafia revenge stuff kinda clashes with what it seemed to be going for with the psychic epiphany stuff. It felt like the kind of thing where the writer or director REALLY liked certain sci-fi works and the ideas therein and wanted to make something derivative of them, but the studio wanted an…
Yesterday I caught a movie my parents were watching about a lady who went to Taiwan on some business thing and got a bunch of Dune Spice all up in her and it gave her psychic powers. I don’t remember the title so it’s not going into the media thread.
I thought it was meh. I think the taiwanese…
Fire Warrior just being shadow dropped on Steam is the funniest thing to happen in a while
…on a large scale because, well…that’s what shit like TV and radio broadcasts are made in.
So like, Mandarin VS. Cantonese is like Spanish vs. Portuguese, and something like Jiao-Liao would be comparable to Catalan or w/e
It’s more like they’re straight up different languages that just happen to share a mutually intelligible writing system.
Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien, etc. are all “language groups” that all have their own “sub-dialects” that are semi-mutually intelligible, while the “core dialect” is understood…
Today I was reminded that in the Superman Doomsday movie Lex kept his Superman clone in a red sun lamp-lined sex dungeon where he regularly beats the shit out of him while shirtless demanding to know why the REAL superman "left [him]."
