In some ways it feels like a classic PR distilled- a healthy balance of Sentai and original footage, epic stakes balanced by solid standalone eps, likable characters, and just the right amount of cheesiness

Agreed! The designs are in that late 90s/early 00s sweet spot of aesthetic from Toei, and the Power Rangers original footage is great as well. The cast that I've met are all super nice as well, which is a big plus

So yeah, any time I see a WW fan complaining about all the emphasis put on Lizzie’s friendship with the super-sons, I GROAN. giving Lizzie ties to characters outside of the WW cast in addition to within is the best way to give the kid staying power. Like, this how a shared universe works, people
See also: Bart Allen, Kamala Khan, Damian Wayne, and Miles Morales after he migrated to earth 616. They all had tethers to other parts of their universes, so removing them wasn’t just removing a character from one book: it was removing a character from ALL of them

there was also a HUGE push to make Kyle part of the broader DCU. He dated Donna Troy, joined the Titans and the JL, befriended Flash and GA. He accrued fans outside of the core GL readership and that made him much harder to get rid of 🧵
Example: when Kyle Rayner was introduced to GL, he had a literal legion of Hal fanboys calling for the character to stop existing. Mind you, Kyle is a great character and Ron Marz is a great writer, so the solo series built up fans organically. But🧵
You’ve got an uphill battle with readers of the book the character is appearing in already, so you NEED to build up the character with fans of other books in order to get them over 🧵
Something I don’t think people always get about introducing a new character to Marvel or DC, particularly legacy heroes, is that their staying power hugely dependent on how well integrated into the setting they are.
