Thanks Olaya! Hope all is well for you in Toulouse. Will you be at #ESCMID26 in Munich? Would be great to catch up on Kleb panel plasmids and more.

Cumulative cgMLST provides increased discrimination of nested phylogenetic groups Background Core genome multilocus sequence typing (cgMLST) is a powerful method for bacterial strain genotyping. However, the size of the core genome decreases as the phylogenetic breadth of the targe...

Implications: We argue that convergent isolates, which emerged globally through the last decade, represent a distinct evolutionary state optimized for transmission rather than systemic invasion. Big thanks to our amazing team and collaborators from all around the globe!

Key findings: Convergence follows preferred, constrained evolutionary paths. The dominant route involves acquiring conjugative IncFIB(Mar)/IncHI1B plasmids with incomplete virulence genes. Iron-scavenging (aerobactin) was the universal trait of convergence — not hypervirulence (Thanks Russo Lab!).

Preferred evolutionary routes of convergence in Klebsiella pneumoniae favor siderophore acquisition over hypervirulence The rise of Klebsiella pneumoniae combining antimicrobial resistance and virulence genes poses a major health threat, but the evolutionary routes and phenotypic consequences of this convergence are po...

New preprint out! Anjali Sapre, Melissa Martin and co. mapped the evolutionary routes of convergence in K pneumo. Pop analysis of >1,400 global genomes & 7,500 closed plasmids to see how #AMR & virulence genes come together and impact phenotypes. www.researchsquare.com/article/rs-8...
