It's that time of year to try and remind year 13 of things we covered AGES ago. Love @richardosman1.bsky.social answer smash... With a #historyteacher Russia spin.
1. Take on Me - Aha
2. Erase and rewind - cardigans
3. The Trooper - Steve n Seagulls
4. Hate to tell I told you so - the Hives
5. Penguins & Polarbears - Millencolin

Being mocked by year 11 students cuts deep. I could have been an art teacher. Stereotype cowboy for American West... #historyteacher

I am absolutely thrilled that the @1972shp.bsky.social Developing Teachers' Conference has signed up 95 teachers of history for Saturday, nearly doubling last year's attendance. BUT I really want to hit three figures so am offering 5 free places to the first 5 people who DM me asking for them!
1. Where did you sleep last night? Nirvana Unplugged
2. Thank you - Chris Cornell live Stockholm
3. Everlong - Skin and Bones - Foo Fighters
4. Down in a Hole - Alice in Chains MTV Unplugged
5. Somebody to Love - George Michael and Queen (Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert)

#OtD 7 Dec 1938 the last of the International Brigades' British Battalion arrived by boat back in Newhaven, UK, after surviving the Spanish Civil War. The 300 brigaders were welcomed by a huge crowd before marching to a special train to London stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/1307...
I'm glad it's not just me whose brain goes to these odd places. I almost started making garum (Roman fish sauce) last year.
With hindsight, this would probably have ended in mass sickness and food poisoning.
Can't wait for this; will be absolute gold. #historyteacher
Another wonderful free event coming up from the North East teacher branch of @histassoc.bsky.social featuring the brilliant @mrmayhew.bsky.social www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/beyond-bur... #history #historyteacher
Absolutely engaging and super. @reteachuk.bsky.social episode with @willbaileywatson.bsky.social and @paulalobo.bsky.social hits the nail on the head when looking at the importance of enquiry and curriculum design. Loved it even on the last day of longest ever half term! 🤟👏
Ahhhhh summary mindmaps... It's been a while (I had forgotten how relaxing they are to complete) #historyteacher #classciv #classicalcivilisation
I stand by my view that this and Ulysses 31 are two of the greatest childrens cartoons. Perfection. Also THE THEME TUNES.
Absolutely bang on from @lewisgoodall.com , sanity in this time of madness. Platforming these lunatics is not free speech; it's dangerous and irresponsible.
I absolutely LOVED Groo. Happy Birthday to a legend!
Introducing my goblin child to the wonder of the Great Yarmouth Hippodrome. Simply amazing.
Great Yarmouth is set to host the biggest neo-nazi music festival in over a decade. The Home Office has the power to block entry of overseas bands, which will scupper the promoters plans. But they won’t act unless we demand it. Email the Home Office now: hopenothate.org.uk/2025/08/28/g...
One for #historyteacher people. Extra date due to popular demand. Probably as this will be brilliant.
However, the voices from others seem to be far less prominent and more diluted.
The major issue is that the vocal minority are increasingly organised - people being bussed in from all over for speeches, numbers and all sorts. The media is having a HUGE impact - voices from reform seem to be showcased every time, to ensure balance.
Couldn't agree more. The shift in attitude, rhetoric and general rage over the past 5-10 years is terrifying.
@norwichcastle.bsky.social OH MY WORD! THE REVAMP IS AMAZING!
Not like the old days though, when the machine used to crush your feet to the size of shoes in stock. Halcyon days.
Ahhhhhh return from holiday in the sw of France and the temperature difference is terrifying. I also miss the boulangerie. Sob.
www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... or rather they were assassinated/ murdered. Not just targeted. War crime committed by murderers.
Delighted to be hosting these two fabulous book events for Kemp’s bookstore in Malton, Yorkshire in September. Be a great evening of history chat and would be wonderful to see some Yorkshire history teachers there. Please spread the word! #historyteacher
Absolute belter of a book. If you havent read already, children of Ash and Elm by Neil Price is superb as well.
Just reading The Good Germans" by Catrine Clay, and absolutely hooked. Brilliant stories of normal people unfolding with the emergence of Hitler's Germany. #historyteacher people this is gold for those that teach the Third Reich.
