This is a sport for perverts
you have to be fucking kidding me right now

this is going to permanently raise my blood pressure
what if instead of sports we chose happiness
sports was a mistake
Why are we always giving attention to NIMBYs? It’s a 1600ft house with one (1) window that overlooks a backyard. We’re never stopping the housing crisis as long as politicians listen to these people
The point “pigs would eat you and so they deserve to be eaten” loses its punch when you think about applying the same logic to any other animal. Cats and dogs will eat their dead owners if left alone for too long. Does that mean my cat deserves to be eaten? I don’t think so
I don't like doing this. It feels fucked up to constantly point out the negative dimensions of someone who just died in a horrific, worrying way. But I would like the media to tell basic truths about this person and his impact on public life rather than resorting to euphemism and outright lies!
Unfortunately, it does appear to be true: www.nytimes.com/live/2025/08...
You’ve got to scroll down a bit but the suspect changed her name to reflect a female gender identity in 2020.
andrew cuomo is emblematic of everything people despise about the democratic party and zohran is everything people want in politics, he represents hope for a better world
Beyond all of these points, I think that people are missing just how long a billion years is. Animals as we know them didn’t exist a billion years ago. Planning for a scenario that far in the future would be like trying to tell what Earth would be like back before the dinosaurs existed
Relying on spontaneity to get things started. Instead of saying “I’ll start in 5 mins”, just go “I’m going to start right now” and treat the task like an impulsive urge. Works best for smaller tasks I’m avoiding because I don’t like them (like replying to emails and text messages)
She doesn’t think that it’s likely they’re going to offer her any position in the first place. I guess I just don’t understand why this is bad. The Libs need more votes to pass legislation. Don’t we want bargains that force the Libs to be more progressive instead of more conservative…?
Yeah but I wouldn’t call it political opportunism. She’s been pretty explicit that she’s not abandoning her party or her principles. Collaborating with the Liberals isn’t bad if she can get them to agree to more progressive positions as a result.
To be fair, she does say in the article that she wouldn’t stop being part of the Green Party to run for Speaker and that she’s left her hat in the ring for Speaker before. IMO I don’t she’s actually shifting her beliefs, just saying that she’d be open to collaborating with the Libs
No one hates Ontario much like we hate ourselves #CanadaVotes
I’m proud that I voted for Mike Morrice and I do not regret that at all. He’s the only politician I’ve ever seen respond to his constituents’ concerns on Reddit and you can tell that he really cares about the people in Kitchener Centre. It’s such a tragedy to lose an MP like him
ngl I think the largest obstacle to overcome is party allegiance. Kitchener Centre has reinforced the fact that so many people just don’t care about what their MP is like as long as they have the right letter next to their name
Glad that Poilievre is toast but that’s undercut by the feeling that the left is also toast #CanadaVotes
What is the point of doing this when bus drivers themselves act as enforcement? I don’t think there are many TTC buses (if at all) where you can pay by entering from the back door
Carney was disappointing. He needed a stronger performance here. Didn’t like his conservative-leaning positions, but the main issue is how he came off. Too many pauses and a stilted, awkward delivery makes me afraid that he’d get destroyed in a more aggressive debate

Freeland was bad. I didn’t expect to like her going in, but wow, that was bad.
#cdnpoli
Baylis was (imo) the most conservative leaning candidate. Did not like how much he focused on pipelines and productivity, but I can’t deny that he did a good job. He’s also the only candidate comfortable in French, which is a big advantage.

Gould did a great job defending progressive policies while focusing on affordability. While she should’ve focused more on how she’d be different from Trudeau, a lot of her rhetoric was great. I don’t think she’ll win, but I think she could have a shot in the future
#cdnpoli
Overall, Gould appeared the strongest imo, with Baylis in second. Freeland did much worse than I thought she would, but I had much higher hopes for Carney. He came off somewhat awkward at times, and I worry he wouldn’t do well in a debate against Poilievre. That’s bad for the front runner

Carbon tax is dead for 3/4 candidates, except for Gould. Sad to see good policy die like this, but to be fair that’s Trudeau’s fault. I like the focus on polluter pays, but the time constraint means candidates can’t get into specifics. Surprised climate change wasn’t a bigger focus

Gould talking about enforcing better transparency w/healthcare transfers is excellent. One need only look to Doug Ford to see why that’s important. Carney and Baylis focused a bit too much on healthcare tech, while Freeland made my partner say “what is she talking about” out loud.
