this week's Console Archives title: good ol' Ninja Gaiden III https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GlEYPat8zY as you probably know, the FC version broke from tradition by being much easier than the preceding games, but the difficulty was cranked way up for the NES version, so you may enjoy A/B'ing them
Voomerang, you're a time saver!
Voomerang: Oh yeah babyyyy!!
You do plenty of high-low dodging for stuns in V Joe, but it seems like vertical positioning doesn't matter as much as the dodge itself. 📝
I feel like I got pranked so hard with this LOL
Another Joe felt tricky at first. I wasn't sure if I should minimize movement and let him to come to me, but then all the clones started piling up and finding him got time consuming.
Then game over clarity hit and I figured I gotta follow his trail and Just Go For It. gg ez xD

Every time this tailor posts a photo of their workspace, it looks like their dog is a tailor and he's showing off the garments he made.

I guess it's one way for people to stay connected and use it as small talk fuel. I can see how tiring it can get putting up with that though 😅
With Sword World and Wares Blade coming out in the English language for the first time, @crapstacular.bsky.social talks to the publishers about how they're overcoming the challenges of translation.

Viewtiful Joe isn't just pick-up and play, it's also
Video game rumors really don't get much out of me these days. Big if true, but I'm not getting invested in it before I see what the deal is. That energy is better spent elsewhere, I think.
Fighting game players are so funny to me because you could have the best player in the world be the worst at explaining their methodology sometimes.
“Yeah you shouldn’t press here EVER but sometimes you should press.”
“This move will kill you, but sometimes you won’t die.” Always funny.
Yeah, it feels like there is room for the shop to exist in a healthy way. Great stuff if you can afford it, but sooner or later it makes me go "hmm maybe I don't need anything now" without feeling like a compromise. I guess that's the power of VFX!

Like if you wanna have the conversation, Video Games being more of a consumer product than art in how it's treated in the media is a big part of why the broad gaming community distrusted "experts". We've only recently gained the language to talk about gaming as an art form.
yeah same
"what about having a dance-like boss fight in a flat area"
No ‼️ The boss area is being filled with water and a shark is going to BITE you. Use the platforms and move vertically to throw him off.
... well ok you get that with Captain Blue earlier but y'know
I'm not usually that invested in doing elaborate combos in action games, so I'm a bit biased to what this game is doing. Line up the enemies for points, figure out where to move (sometimes), meter dump for damage, play a shooting mini-game, whatever
I saved up for the vfx turbocharger from the get-go on Hard, and it's nice how far fundamentals (both action game and V Joe) can take you until that point. It's a bit front-loaded with mechanics and the experience is pretty tight so far. Game wants you Doing Things every room, it's great.
This boss drops down spikes, so you can punch them his way and get an opening.
Or you can just have him stun himself. Viewtiful Joe is a funny video game
In Majora's Mask, it's possible to attack Wizzrobe right before the phase 2 cutscene starts, which makes him spawn in the same spot. Since Spin Attack has such a huge, lingering hitbox, this is easier to time with quickspin chains. This is a pretty good reason to get the Razor Sword before Snowhead.
I've also learned the hard way that wikis are better done as co-op projects. 💀 Working on the posture at least doesn't require other people (usually), so I guess that's a plus for the job. LOL
One day we will be there in the thick of it, maybe
this is one of my “good thing is bad actually” opinions but I feel like being a hardcore gamer/liking a game too much actually ruins games most of the time
this is something we all see when it isn’t us doing it
binging content day 1, “game sucks (1001 hours played)”, optimizing the fun out, etc
