I ask ChatGPT to recommend a drink with 8 shots of espresso and hit a safety guardrail

I love how DoorDash has started showing a picture of your order at pickup. It’s like some kind of threat.
Also give in to Don Quijote. Get an extra bag. Maybe some ketamine while you’re in there.
Use the Suica card on your phone, use the Translate app for text, and if you have to transfer trains and get the little piece of paper then good luck
I am extremely bullish about TV streaming from multiple angles. I worked for Netflix for 4 years. Netflix raised their 4K HDR tier to $26.99. I’m fucking donezo. Fin

This week I spoke on a panel about AI and production management for about 200 production execs in Hollywood. About 80% of the room raised their hand when asked if they’d used Claude.
I would take perimenopause a thousand times over before I would deal with male pattern baldness tbh
Once again I dressed for valley weather and was bamboozled by the marine layer

Alt: this is what it looks like when you finish your homework on two-way ANOVA and almost understand it so you get a lil treat
I’m standing atop a hill or mountain depending on who you ask, raising my arm in a millennial peace sign overlooking the LA basin.
This is what it looks like behind the Hollywood Sign.
I saw an influencer get dragged for taking a Waymo on her IG reel. They said “how can you support AI as an artist?” But they also said “they’re not even autonomous” so….We have all lost the fuckin plot
I think about this a lot: I don’t have kids. I’m not going to. But that doesn’t mean I can’t give children what they need — for halloween, for easter, for Christmas, for everything.
If only human engineers would do the same for me
Anyway, this is why I love YouTube. Make what you want, find your audience, fuck the system.
I went to an industry conference a few weeks ago where a major streamer was talking about a fully cloud workflow — no AI, just the promise of 2014’s cloud finally implemented. “We were able to hire fewer assistant editors!” Accepted. But AI? Noooo.
The reality of Hollywood rn isn’t that AI is actively taking jobs yet. There’s a lot of other economic conditions at play, including the consolidation of studios and distribution. And LA being too expensive for production. AI is a scapegoat IMO - not good enough yet for job stealing.
I’m part of the Television Academy’s Science and Technology peer group and work with the AI advisory and public policy committees. Today was our annual summit where we try our best to inform and educate.
I got dat Claude Enterprise 💅 the best tokens are the ones someone else pays for
When the bird site was new and hot I was so dialed into it. I was bird site royalty with thousands of followers. Now on blue sky I don’t know what to do with my hands. I am so awkward. I’m sorry, I’ve aged out of everything
Me when I try to keep up with the AI news
😬😬
A few months ago I wrote this thing about if AI models should be protected by ethical research guidelines. I asked this of myself when I was doing a doctorate training on ethical use of prisoner populations for research and I was like o no 🥲 open.substack.com/pub/kyleepen...
Good news for applied interdisciplinary girlies, bad news for the bros phoning it in (as usual)
I love watching people go from Copilot to Claude
Today I did an interview about AI rejection among creatives with a girl studying it in 6th grade. She read my pre-print abstract. I didn’t know what an abstract was until I was like 38. I still don’t really
Bombastic side eye
I went to conference recently where people were very happy to talk about AI’s lack of taste and I was like
Good news, AI doesn’t have good taste! Bad news, it has YOUR taste! Uh oh open.substack.com/pub/kyleepen...
I am 39.5 years old today. It’s happening isn’t it
