Xenia Fox is sitting on a computer chair next to her computer setup on the right. Her desk is littered with books such as "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", "C Programing Language", as well as Bionicle and TARDIS figurines. There's a pack of energy drinks underneath her desk and a "Blake's 7" poster to her left.

meaning that you misremembered and AVs get their safety gains more from being better than the median driver rather than from avoiding the pitfalls of the first quartile driver?

or wrong some other way

I like approximately two things about sleep: no longer being tired (which I hate), and resetting my mood

if I'm not feeling it, sometimes I look forward to knowing that I'll go to sleep and probably will be feeling it a bit more when I wake up

I'd be interested if it's not too much trouble; I've never really developed the "dig up specific public stats" skill for anything that wouldn't be in a wikipedia info box

do we know at what driver percentile, e.g., a waymo becomes more likely to get in an accident per mile?

I wonder how much of the safety increase from self driving cars is that we're comparing them to metrics that contain the lowest quartile or decile or w/e of human drivers?

or, put another way, a benefit of self driving cars is that they never ever act like the worst drivers

always sad to reread something and discover it's not as good as you remembered, but it's a little bit puzzling when you read it first like 4 months ago

yeah I saw another graph somewhere that showed the study's results on replication, so they did measure both

2 weeks ago 1 0 1 0

yes but there's nothing random here, the data already exists

2 weeks ago 1 0 1 0

wait, I'm confused about what reproduction is if the same data and same methods can fail to produce the same results

yeah it's good, great animation

I don't really get the complaints about the story tbh; feels like going to Fast and Furious and complaining that the car physics is nonsense, like my brother, I know, that's what we're here for

I don't get it

how could calling conversion therapy abuse possibly be considered an endorsement of conversion therapy

2 weeks ago 4 0 1 0

no matter how I contort my brain I can't for the life of me fathom what people thought was supporting conversion therapy about what he said
