I have been banging this drum often but I want YOU, yes YOU to upload to your FA account. Today. Right now!
Posting ONLY to a feed website is very blink-and-youll-miss-it. Your hard work/cool art you got deserves a gallery.

Hello everyone!

We are absolutely thrilled to share the next step for Anthro New England. For next year’s convention in 2027, we are officially expanding to become a two-hotel convention! We are proud to announce our partnership with the Omni Boston at the Seaport, which will serve as our second main hotel alongside the Westin Boston Seaport District hotel.

By splitting our event spaces between these two wonderful venues, we are unlocking much-needed room to grow and spread out. The Omni is incredibly excited to welcome each and every one of you, and this expansion allows us to vastly improve the convention experience. Major improvements include relocating the Vendor Hall and Registration to a larger space to reduce crowding, as well as the addition of large panel rooms to accommodate our higher attendance panels. We expect this dual-hotel setup will give everyone much needed room to breathe and relax within our convention spaces.

The Omni is located directly across the street from the Westin. To ensure your commute between venues is safe, quick and easy, we are arranging crosswalk assistance to help guide our attendees safely across the street. For those with accessibility concerns - the Omni offers additional accessible guestrooms, and the street crossings are level and divided with a median.

We can’t wait to welcome you all through the doors of both the Omni and Westin for 2027. Please read on for our FAQ about this announcement below to see exactly what this expansion means for your experience with us in Boston.

As always, we are listening to your feedback - please feel free to write to us at info@anthronewengland.com with any questions, suggestions, or concerns - we are always looking to improve.

Sincerely,
Anthro New England

The secret fear of the morally depraved is that virtue is actually common, and that they're the ones who are alone. In Minnesota, all of the ideological cornerstones of MAGA have been proved false at once. Minnesotans, not the armed thugs of ICE and the Border Patrol, are brave. Minnesotans have shown that their community is socially cohesive-because of its diversity and not in spite of it. Minnesotans have found and loved one another in a world atomized by social media, where empty men have tried to fill their lonely soul with lies about their own inherent superiority.
Minnesotans have preserved everything worthwhile about "Western civilization," while armed brutes try to tear it down by force.

Laelia - Furcationland 2026 Dead Dog - Hyperpop, Club, Nightcore As a rule, an opener should never, ever play tracks by someone later in the set order, *especially* if that artist is performing an entire hour of their own original material. This night I broke that rule in the most perfect way possible when I opened the Dead Dog at Furcationland 2026 with The Joy of Freedom by A-Saph, who was performing third on the roster. My complete failure to notice this oversight made for one of the most magical moments of the convention, which saw poor A-Saph desperately trying to figure out how their music could possibly be playing out over the main speakers, only to realize it's me. And thanks to my dumb doggy fursuit head, I couldn't understand the commotion around me and threw my hands up in confusion. It was a perfect and ridiculous moment that kicked off an incredible night of music. The cover shot comes from the end of the set, where I decided Tuna Display's hyperpop baroque rondo needed a conductor.

It's out!

Feeling so revitalized and reenergized after #FCL2026. Almost 2K people but plenty of room to breathe and wander and explore. Where else can I conduct the crowd in a hyperpop reimagining of a baroque rondo and everyone just goes with it?

Getting outside and chucking myself at piles of rocks armed with sharp spiky tools has been immensely good for the psyche, especially today (which ended in the most relieving TACO Tuesday ever, perhaps)

History loves Vasily Arkhipov, the Russian submarine officer who refused to fire nukes, and prevented a possible civilization-destroying thermonuclear exchange, even though he got a ton of flak for it in the immediate aftermath

Now we've got this shit going on, and we've gotta cross our fingers 🤞🤞🤞

What explains the helpless passivity of President Biden, Attorney General Merrick Garland, and the rest of the Democratic Party leadership? (To be fair, the January 6 committee has produced a lot of useful information and drama, which may even have shocked Garland into doing something.)

One hypothesis is often called "institutionalism." In a recent profile of Dianne Feinstein, Rebecca Traister writes: "From her youth, Feinstein has been an institutionalist, with an institutionalist’s respect for structure, management, and hierarchy as means to manage the rabble of activism and protest. She seems unable to appreciate the possibility that partisan insurgents have overrun those institutions themselves."

This is well observed but I think it is better called chauvinist cowardice. Someone who actually cared for an institution would notice when it was staggeringly, comically dysfunctional (the Senate) or under assault from fascists (constitutional government), and take action to fix or protect it respectively.

I think what Feinstein exhibits instead, along with the rest of the Democratic do-nothing caucus, is a sort of childish, willfully stupid faith in the crystalline perfection of American institutions—the kind of belief that manifests as denial whenever it conflicts with reality, which is to say all the time. The institutions do not work well or as designed, in fact they are terrible in a dozen obvious ways, but confronting this would mean facing the truth that America is not God's chosen nation—that in fact it just another country like all the others, and indeed is far behind most of its peer wealthy nations in the quality of life (or life, period) enjoyed by its citizens. An insecure chauvinist cannot tolerate thoughts like these, and so resorts to desperate incantation that America is too the greatest country on Earth, so there.
