wafting up gently from the street below our window, a loud car horn and then, in reply, in the most beautiful classic new york accent I’ve heard in the wild in years, “you fuckin stoopid, bro?” live from new york, it’s saturday night!

One of the great heroes of modern life
oh so now it's illegal to put on a little play with your friends
I mean it did make me cry all on its own, anyway, so
(as far as I can find out from digging around in the YouTube comments and a couple articles it seems to be legit, let’s hope that holds)
the quality of this is such that one of our cats came over and rubbed up against the phone like there was a guy in our house she wanted to make friends with
thomas and I were watching an episode of Taskmaster which I’d already paused like a dozen different times for complete bullshit reasons, and the night and day change in his reaction from “okay I have to pause this one more time” to “let me show you why” was absolute cinema
@bbolander.bsky.social klaxon
hooooooooooooooooooooooooly shit
anyway Red Rocks is one of the greatest live albums ever recorded ok bye
“aren’t you shocked to find out Dave Matthews has great politics and Radiohead has shit politics” no I have lived in the world
is this at long last the year I finally stop pretending to be cooler than I am and admit that I grew up in the SF Bay Area in the late 90s/early 2000s and have at no point stopped being exactly as big a DMB fan as that might suggest
everything wants to be loved
that is the lesson of springtime
my Sherman’s March to the Sea layer cake has people asking a lot of questions already answered by the cake
Doorman and building staff may go on strike against building owners in NYC for the first time in 30 years+ next week, and I can say that among apartment building residents, there is a 50/50 divide between "Give them anything they want" and "Give them anything they want, you assholes."
porque no los tres
I’ve been considering this, too, and probably would have done it already if there weren’t the problem where anything that could be described as “the paper of record” sucks massive donkey balls now
anyway I strongly recommend this to everyone, but especially if you used to be someone who would read a 1000 page book as a treat for fun and want to know if that’s something you can get back (yes)
I do feel pretty justified about the decision I made a little over a year ago to switch to reading primarily actual physical paper books in an effort to bring back my ability to read at the pace/volume/enthusiasm level I had as a young person (yes; experiment wildly successful; rip my budget)
let me say this again: come and take it
“Yes, it is bread we fight for,
but we fight for roses too.”

(Put this on a t-shirt, please.)

This Is How You Lose The Time War (2019)
same reason any of us are here (brain disease)
pope clavicular helen dewitt
a world-historical nightmare blunt rotation in my last three “trying to find out what everybody is yelling about on here” searches
Five whole blocks of Park Ave are shut down for a @32bjseiu.bsky.social rally ahead of a possible strike. Guess you better give them a contract!!!!
oh NO now I’m thinking about it again
any opinion that starts with “lena dunham” and doesn’t end with “really matters to my mom for some reason” is an old-coded opinion sorry!!
what’s funny about this prompt, of course, is that all of us here are old and therefore can’t perceive that old-coded opinions in 2026 are things like “rilo kiley is better than death cab” or “gawker was important” or “the internet is a philosophically meaningful singular object”
I mean, contemplating my own mortality and that of my loved ones does get just a tiny bit easier if it includes a very slight possibility of getting to meet Liv Ullmann
