Got to go on a quick birding hike yesterday and finally got to see a heron in the wild AND I got better Pileated woodpecker shots!
Really finding some peace and pure joy in this hobby, looking forward to more birding today!

Say hello to the yellow rumped warbler, aka the butter-butt. They chill here for most of the winter before heading as far north as Newfoundland.
This handsome dude is most likely getting ready to head north to get his freak on soon. All beefed up for migration, good luck on the flight dude!
Sup kid, wanna buy some grubs?
We took this selfie shortly before realizing we were stuck in the closet after hiding from a possible tornado because our door knob broke(we figured it out eventually).
Theres something ironic about this I think.
Entered my first wildlife photography thing, its not even a contest or big deal, might get my first picture published though! I tried with these 3, wish me luck!
Just droppin off some pecker pics.
Hi here's a crow mobbing an eagle. It didn't work very well, but was fun to watch!
I bring more bird pictures. Long day in the woods tomorrow hopefully, been trying to be on the bike more this week but have gotten a few!
Anyways this was my little escape, hope you like the birds!
Went to look at the birds to reset my mental health, a little ornitherapy of you will. Really glad to have found birding as a hobby, enjoying photography as well. I think I'm better at spotting birds than I am taking pictures of them, but hoping to change that.
Just a couple of peckers, one red-headed, and the other red-bellied!
I think I accidentally stumbled into a boss fight...
Damn is it ANOTHER set of Tufted Titmouse pics…you bet it is!
Yeah sleeping in is nice, orrrr we could go birding…
White-throated sparrow from a quick hike today, got back to the car just as it started raining too!
Her name is now Leucy and her mates name is Ricky.
They are Leucy and Ricky Ricardinal.
Shes the bird that got me into bird-watching so she deserves a name!
Did she just hit me with a freaking magical girl transformation pose?!
I love this leucistic cardinal that nests nearby. It's SO cool to have a bird this unique frequently visiting!
Really happy with the results, what a gorgeous bird.
He hung out for a few moments until he heard another, and took off to woo her I assume!
Took some time cleaning this Pileated woodpecker photo up! I've been trying to get a good shot of one since I started bird-watching 2 months ago, a ton of close calls and eyes on, but couldn't get the shot.
It felt worth it to spend some time on this one, and finally practice some editing.
Ruby-crowned Kinglets have absolutely 0 chill, this dude was so fun to watch bounce around for a few minutes.
They are my favorite to watch at this point, they have no fear, act sassy in front of cameras, and I can always find at least one!
...oh deer, that's not a bird.
I also ran into these gorgeous ducks; a Blue-winged teal and mallard, look at em, just workin it for the camera.
You can tell the Mallard was extra sassy.
Got to take the camera out to look for some birds again!
We've got a Pileated Woodpecker, Red-shouldered hawk, Tufted-titmouse, and swamp sparrow!
Who needs soap operas when you have grackles around?
Finally got some OK shots of a turkey vulture, I've seen a ton, but they are typically out of my range.
They were cool to watch glide around this morning.
Weather was perfect, another 5 miles of hiking. A few days off now to focus on the bike and fitness, hopefully I'll sneak out here early this weekend and get hidden near the water to get some close ups!
