Given that he cannot run another term, and doesnt give a shit about anyone else on earth, there are only two possible conclusions, not mutually exclusive:
1. Trump has figured out a way to make big money off the destruction and chaos.
2. Trump and everyone around him is clinically insane.

You know, ordinarily you can dismiss the blame people tend to place on specific administrations for recessions and economic woes, which are usually multivariate. But Trump has literally, singlehandedly tanked the economy, and he’s admitting it, and it is only likely to get worse.
