Irish literature stays winning
For sure. I'd like to hear what you come up with! Took me playing/running A LOT of shadowdark, cairn, and OSE to form my opinion that dungeon turns are best. I wonder if my choices of chonky, detail-oriented dungeons is why I prefer not penalising players or expecting perfect clarity from the GM.
Without a doubt I think tracking light is valuable! I'm not dismissing that. I'm expressing that the current shadowdark/crows style "30-60minute timer" approach isn't my cuppa tea for the reason I put forward. Dungeon turn time tracking is what I propose as the best solution.
I think the real time torch timers in dungeon rpgs adversely affects the thinking/strategy parts of rpgs.
Having unlimited time to poke around and query the dungeon is a necessary stand-in for our lack of actual diegetic character senses and skills.
That alton brown and babish cocktail video made me so irrationally mad. 4 minutes in i tuned out. Rating a 5:1 martini, simple syrup (not agave) in their margarita, and a rye old fashioned as the standard for ratings as the best is just genomically targeted ragebait at me
The second episode of my Electrum Archives campaign is live on youtube! We got mysteries and sacrifices in a necropolis to solve!

sia - elastic heart but the chorus goes:
"I've got stuck in
the Jurassic park"
Sparrowhawk
Gosh um I'm not confident but around 50/50? But I had no way of knowing if someone was doing both. That's an important caveat. If you were homebrewing but added a module in your homebrew thatd count as using the module

In case anyone cares, to corroborate this breakdown by this site I never heard of is pretty much identical to the breakdown of games when I was at roll20 during COVID. Nothing much has changed in the habits of gamers
The first episode of my science fantasy Conan campaign of Electrum Archives is now live on YouTube! This is an edited actual play of my new closed table osr sandbox centred around the amazing dungeon, "Lions of Tell Arn"

Look forward to the sequel video where I'll detail even more things open table DMs need to think about and make choices on to save you and your players headaches. Also it'll go over why a lot of the original Ben Robbin's advice is valuable but outmoded.

I honed my years of running open table games into this new video. I go through how I improv a session when surprised and how I diligently hone what my game's about from initial idea to technical infrastructure to recruiting and communicating that vision out
My favourite house rule for blades in the dark is adding an XP trigger for invoking your Look and Style. Showing off our motivational drives is cool and all but have you ever shown off your cool fancy hat?
Sorry to hear that dude. Good luck with your next gig!
Gambling has too many Pros and Cons.
Yall, whoda thunk a romance western is in my personal pantheon of favorite books. The Heart In Winter, by Kevin Barry has it all. It's so loveable and funny and the lyricism of the words is just something I've been aching for for a while. Truly sublime book.
3 sessions in and loving it. Unfortunately I'm not recording it because I don't have the time to edit it to make it look like a JRPG and do it right. But running fabula in the setting of the UVG is a breeze.
I have so much of your game to catch up on! Looking forward to it!
Gallows, Stockades, and Gibbets qualify as third spaces yeah?
... and you can play Gentleman Scoundrel, a solo+ Blades in the Dark poetry RPG, with these beauties 💅
