If there is evidence it is effective, I would earnestly like to see that data

Democratic Party electeds tend to rely extremely heavily on polling memos and message testing. And yet I’ve never seen any memo or poll that indicated that scolding would-be voters was effective persuasion or mobilization.

Interesting what gets an exception from the focus group requirement!

The FISA flop, plus Republicans can’t stop fighting each other An audacious play by Johnson to pass a five-year extension of Section 702 of FISA failed spectacularly just before 1:30 a.m.

In a big loss for Mike Johnson, the House rejected his proposed reauthorization of a little-known law that lets the government sidestep the Constitution and spy on US citizens.

With a final tally of 213-214, the war powers resolution to disengage US forces from the war on Iran failed by a single vote.

Representative Jared Golden of Maine was the sole Democratic lawmaker to vote against the measure. Had he voted for it, it would have passed, handing Trump an historic loss.

I had read about Justin Smith and knew how outrageous it was for him to be nominated, but I had not seen video of him speaking. And I want to apologize for not spending enough time making fun of him for being an incredible dweeb.

Wild that House Dems are letting the Senate — the Senate!! — run laps around them like this.

I’m glad there’s a House vote this week. But the foot dragging and lack of a sustained plan is baffling.

and yet Chuck Schumer voted for the US to remain in the business of sending Netanyahu bulldozers to plow over Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon

His era of the party is over, and it's time for the next one to take over

Stephanie Cutter celebrating her new gig as chief shill for Kalshi

this is just so gross, man. I cannot wait until we are past the pipeline of Obama alum -> shill for the worst industries in the world. It's noxious on policy and political grounds.

Just because it's "tech" or "new" doesn't mean it's not evil. But hope and change or whatever.

this is the mechanism to rein in an out of control judiciary. it’s not just an option, it’s actually an obligation for Congress to impeach judges who so flagrantly stomp on the constitution.

Any SCOTUS justice entertaining ending birthright citizenship aught to be thrown out of the chamber.

ridiculous to argue that a "professional service" (scare quotes intentional) is protected speech simply because there's talking involved. Fuck all the way off with this.

All love to my trans friends, who deserve a world so much better than this. Your humanity should never be in question.

Pentagon seeks more than $200 billion in budget request for Iran war That figure would far surpass the costs of the U.S. airstrike campaign to date and aims to boost production of critical weapons depleted in the conflict, people familiar with the matter said.

$200B for an illegal war, led by the dumbest people alive, that's driving up costs. Genuinely hilarious that they'd even ask for this. Hard pass, and any member of congress even considering this should be run out of their jobs.

Multiple Republicans in Congress post openly anti-Muslim statements At least four congressional Republicans have expressed anti-Islamic sentiments on social media in the wake of the Iran War and recent violent attacks in the U.S.

The Republican Party's descent into open Islamophobia is not just disgusting — it's also completely un-American. Muslims have been part of the American experiment since before this country began. We will not let the GOP smear millions of Muslim Americans in order to distract from Trump's failures.

Important for pro-democracy Spaniards to know that the Minnesota State Fair has a paella truck with the tagline The Hotdish of Spain.

I’m just saying the cross-Atlantic solidarity runs deep.

MPD's "duty to intervene" is meaningless when his police force worked through the last few months without a single intervention. He should just acknowledge there was no amount of lawlessness federal agents could've done that would have triggered an intervention.
