Wanted to share a reflection on my mentor, Dr. Mark Wong, in the latest issue of #AAOMSToday. Forever grateful for his guidance, wisdom, and dedication to advancing our profession. Thank you, Dr. Wong. #MentorshipMatters #OMFS

Big gracias to our speakers, engaged audience (~50 strong) and @iadr.bsky.social & @iadr-oms.bsky.social
for enabling this cross-disciplinary dialogue on how to push the frontiers of oral & craniofacial regeneration—onward to clinical impact! #TeamScience (6/6)
Dr. Conrado Aparicio (UPC) closed the session with bioinspired, antimicrobial biomineralized materials that both spark mineralization and suppress infection—game-changers for long-term implant success. #Biomimetics #Antimicrobial (5/6)
Next, Dr. Luiz Bertassoni (@ohsuknight.bsky.social) wowed us with precision biofabrication—nanoscale mineralization, bioprinting & organ-on-a-chip platforms that decode craniofacial complexity. #Bioprinting #BoneOnChip (4/6)
Next, Dr. Lukasz Witek (NYU) showcased how 3D-printed biomineral scaffolds unlock design freedom for load-bearing craniofacial defects while promoting osteointegration. #3DPrinting #Biomaterials (3/6)
We opened with “Challenges in Maxillofacial Reconstruction & Current Standard-of-Care”—a reality-check on clinical gaps that keep tissue engineers up at night (credit to Dr. James Melville from some of his cases). #Craniomaxillofacial #Regeneration (2/6)
Thrilled to co-chair our #IADR2025 symposium “Bioengineering Advances in Craniomaxillofacial Reconstruction” with Dr. Lukasz Witek here in beautiful Barcelona. Huge thanks to @iadr-oms.bsky.social, #DentalMaterials & #MineralizedTissue groups and everyone who packed the room! 🇪🇸 (1/6)
Congratulations to @mda-uthgrad.bsky.social PhD student Andrea Molina Hernandez for winning an AACR MICR Travel Award to present her work in intratumoral cytokine therapy for head and neck cancer at the @theaacr.bsky.social Annual Meeting. Check out her poster on 4/28/25! #AACR25
And now for something a little different: Dong Lab has designed miniature wireless pumps and valves for on-demand liquid delivery in dental implants. Check it out in Advanced Healthcare Materials: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1...

How to write a grant?
1. The application is for the reviewer, not you, the applicant.
2. Communicate in stories.
3. Make your story cohesive—leave no puzzling gaps.
4. Make your story resonate to keep the reviewer reading.
5. Accept chance and noise in peer-review.
