As the transgender community continues to fight for civil rights in the U.S., one of the most common arguments against progress is that transgender people are a recent phenomenon.

As a parent of a trans daughter, I feel the same dread. I am here if you need someone to talk to. As long as we continue to surround ourselves with supportive friends and family we will get through this.
