#StokerCon was so much fun! I bought way too many books, met @paultremblay.bsky.social (he was so nice!), and took some great classes. Feeling educated and reinvigorated. My first StokerCon was one for the books! And no, I will not apologize for that pun.

Your editor may have a point. Lol But never change! You punch your readers in the emotional gut, and we come right back for more.

Just read The Last Conversation by @paultremblay.bsky.social. It made me immeasurably sad. Sad for the narrator. Sad for Anne. Sad for myself. Paul Tremblay always knows how to punch me right in the emotional gut!

Delroy was also amazing. So was Wunmi Mosaku. I mean, the whole cast, really. But that scene near the end when Smoke is trying to roll the cigarette: it's like 30 seconds, but it's so raw. Michael B. Jordan laid it all out.

If Michael B. Jordan doesn't win an Oscar for #Sinners, then I don't even know why the Oscars exist.

Salt Lake City may have found a way to avoid the state’s ban on pride flags Salt Lake City adopts official versions of the pride and other flags just hours before a new Utah law banning unofficial flags from schools and government buildings takes effect.

Proud of my City!

Decidedly not. My blood pressure is through the roof, my 401k is fucked, and every day brings new, fresh horror. On the other hand, I now know what it was like in 1930s Germany. So, yeah, still no.

Read To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee again this weekend. There is a reason that book is a classic, and it's the same reason so many people try to ban it.

You know that feeling of going to the bookstore for one specific title and then leaving with only that book? Yeah, me neither.

I've decided to try and have a complete first draft of my novel done by June. The perfectionist in me thinks there's no way in hell that's going to happen. Everyone pray to the writing Gods for me!

Today's book is The Valley of Amazement by @amytan.bsky.social. A sweeping, evocative novel, this story examines the ties between mothers and daughters, what binds us together and what happens when we're torn apart.

Also, he should have vetoed it anyway! If the legislature overrode the veto, fine. But he had the opportunity to stand up and be an ally, and he chose not to. "Well, it probably would've happened anyway" is not a valid excuse for giving up without a fight.

“As tired as Utahns are of politically divisive symbols, I think they are also tired of culture war bills that don’t solve the problems they intend to fix,” the governor wrote.

They fix the fake problems they make up.

Today, @govcox.bsky.social allowed HB77 to become law. He didn't have the guts to veto it, so he just did nothing. Silence only ever helps the oppressor, Governor. Never the oppressed.

LGBTQ+ friends and strangers, you are not alone! I see you, and I stand with you, even if our lawmakers won't.

Ok, I'm starting to get suspicious here. How do you know all the things that are actually Heaven? Are you the heavenly liaison to Bluesky?

Good! I'm glad to hear you and others are fighting back. This AI thieving is straight bullshit.

There has to be something authors can do about this. Has there been any talk about a class action lawsuit or anything like that?
