The AI job loss story is all about bundles Evidence on white-collar work displacement is beginning to match the theory

New Fed paper by Crane & Soto uses official labor force survey data and finds that 500,000 fewer coders are working than pre-LLM trends would predict. Hits entry level, not senior workers.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

Navarro has repeatedly (and falsely) claimed that "illegals" were taking the jobs of Americans, including in this very interview.
If that's the case, then why is he now warning that job growth will slow amidst mass deportations? Shouldn't this be boom times for native-born workers?

Jeffrey Epstein circle’s ‘big ideas’ were vacuous guff Emails show that despite hooking up the rich, the powerful and intellectuals, the philosophising was utterly banal

One lesson of the Epstein emails is the total intellectual vacuousness of the international business elite

The Board of Governors decided, unilaterally, that no published textbook in the field of sociology could be used in compliance with the law for an Intro to Sociology class. None.
Victor: There's not a single existing textbook on the market that could be used that would qualify under state law?
Zachary: Correct.
Victor: I'm sorry, that's kind of funny. Like, the absurdity of not a single sociology textbook getting past the censors. I mean, it makes me kind of proud of our colleagues, but...

I do want to shout-out my fellow sociologists, who have collectively created a discipline so woke that not a single one of our introductory textbooks can make it past Florida's censors.

Great work everyone.

Bruce Springsteen - Streets Of Minneapolis (Official Audio)
Bruce Springsteen - Streets Of Minneapolis (Official Audio) YouTube video by Bruce Springsteen

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Chart showing the graduation rate of division 1 Athletes, in 1991 and 2025, showing that the rate for Black men athletes has increased from 33% to 48%, And for black women has increased from 45% to 62%.

The graduation rates for all groups of athletes have improved.

As you get mad seeing your favorite college teams lose to randos, know this:

1. I truly don't care. Hold that L.🤷🏿‍♂️

2. We did this to improve college athlete graduation rates, and to reduce college athlete poverty. This is a civil rights issue.

And yes, athlete graduation rates are up since NIL!

Their big question was like, "why the sticker" I told them it was on the truck when I bought it-and they suggested I remove it. Obnoxious creatures.

Why should I write better when a machine can do it for me?
Because actually no one can do it for you, because your voice is unique among all the people on earth. Siri never petted a horse's neck. Alexa has never been ghosted by the captain of the football team. But you have lived, your heart is beating, you have suffered, and you have something important to say. It's a human's job, to use words, and whatever job you give to a machine, that part of your brain goes dark. Maybe it's worth it when it comes to remembering phone numbers and directions, but when that part of your brain that uses words goes dark, that's a vast area that's very close to your soul. Don't let some internet platform convince you that what you have to say and create isn't worthwhile. Words are the echo of your soul. Honing that echo matters.

Does HR still need humans? AI can perform many of the duties of human resources staff, a symbol of how it is changing companies and the nature of work

Key question from @laszlobock.bsky.social: "whether AI’s productivity benefits [will be] claimed by capital — feeding through to bigger profits or higher executive pay — or shared with labour, in the form, say, of shorter working hours or higher salaries" on.ft.com/41cuDrw @andrewtghill.ft.com

How Trumpism is like Stalinism. A thread. 🧵🧵🧵
Many people make valid comparisons of Trumpism to Nazism. But I think MAGA authoritarianism bears more similarities to Joseph Stalin's Soviet Union – ruthless, paranoid, dishonest and determined to climb into every aspect of the lives of his people.

The Mothership Vortex: An Investigation Into the Firm at the Heart of the Democratic Spam Machine How a single consulting firm extracted $282 million from a network of spam PACs while delivering just $11 million to actual campaigns.

The annoying spam texts destroying the Democratic brand:

$678M raised through those spam tactics

$282M to one consulting firm: Mothership Strategies.

$11M to actual campaigns (1.6%)

The party isn’t just treating donors like marks—it’s being fleeced itself yet continues to back Mothership.
