This album is something else. I wish I had a good way to describe what his sax sounds like. www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8Nc...

Grateful that I get to help platform some of that great writing
Psst. Hey, kid.
It seems to be universally beloved by both Israelis and American Jews, which always surprises me because the story seems a little bit radical to me -- putting would-be IDF commando thugs next to Nazis and asking us to think about that for a sec.
Love this story so much!
Today is a great day to read Etgar Keret's "Siren."
I have decided what is wrong with my draft. I have not yet figured out how to fix it. Will keep you updated.
Makes sense. Invitation's always open!
Ugh have to go get ready to teach and am only halfway through this thing. Don't be like me, read it when you have time to finish it. So good so far.
This is something I need to do a better job of also.

Couldn't be more excited to get to share that @amystuber.com's Short Story, Long story, "Swans," was selected for The Best American Mystery and Suspense 2026!
This was not only one of my fave stories I published last year, but one of my fave stories of the year, period. Congrats, Amy!!
If I were you I’d get an unlisted number, then think about growing up, just a little. I can’t tell you which divining bones to choose, that’s your job, and when you come close, I wish it was all around, around over me. The jingle of your hat comforts me, confirms me in my worst aspects. I shall never be anything but a clown, now. And there’s so much work to do, so many puzzles to ignore.

'physicality' is a word I hear constantly and exclusively on sports broadcasts.
My son wanted to buy something expensive, so he saved up his allowance for about six months, then had me purchase the item and paid me back with the money I'd once given him, now my wallet is fat with my own cash -- I feel I've been tricked.
You should check out his collection of essays, Pulphead! It's terrific.
Yeah this is awesome. www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBYp...
I haven't read his book so I can't comment on it, but to do this historically you really have to dig into the Bible's reception in particular times and places..."the West" is going to be a tough assignment because of it's scope, but anyway I should check out the book. Thanks!
I'm not sure exactly what to make of non-religious bible as lit stuff. Of course "this is the meaning I make of the bible" can be interesting (especially combined with memoir) but otherwise it's as ahistorical as any radical reread of a great work. That said I'm definitely curious.
Sorry to dump a link to my own stuff here, but I think the Alpha School business attracts these people because it's an anti-school school, provides a vision for what these guys are hoping for. pershmail.substack.com/p/alpha-scho...
I have not, from a quick glance looks like it's part of the "bible as literature" world? The book I'm reading now is very much not that.
For people who think schools are fundamentally broken and harmful (and there such people) anything is better than teaching.
Some people think of impact only in terms of scale. Yeah, Sal Khan makes videos of varying quality that help people with math homework, but he's done that for a hundred million customers. Yeah, he abjectly failed to transform education, but at least he tried.
On Dan's blog someone said the same thing about me.
"Infinite patience" is not a quality ingredient for a good education, nor is it something we should continue to extend to the education "revolutions" of Sal Khan. biblioracle.substack.com/publish/post...
