I love grappling hooks in games, and one of the most fun games I've ever played is Cyber Hook. In a game physics course I'm taking, I felt inspired to make my own grappling hook game.
Behold, an early prototype of Grapple Arena!

All good things start with a simple plane...and a floating cube. Its purpose shall be revealed soon...

Had to implement some boids for a uni task and looking at the fishies floating around I just HAD to overlay the perfect song.

The Steam storefront description for Black Ice with an "Overwhelmingly Positive" (95%) review score.
Seems like a great day to wishlist some indie games!
Why not start with Black Ice, the "Overwhelmingly Positive" cyberspace looter/shooter RPG where hackers expose corporate corruption and help people get healthcare and organize against the megacorps. store.steampowered.com/app/311800/B...
So we're all calling it the GabeCube, right?
Pushed a small QoL update for Operation: Retrieval. If you've missed the spooky season, why not treat yourself to a few minutes of scares this weekend?

Turns out the issues were on my end 😔 finally fixed them and can now (hopefully) continue working in peace. Halloween release window should be doable 🙏
"The bloody business of interstellar warfare is never concluded" is the most "we have Warhammer at home" thing I've ever read. Absolutely hilarious.
That's so true! The few times I tried finding some assets (mostly audio) left me impressed. Best case you find a new artist to follow.
A roadblock I keep bumping against is finding sources of cc0 assets which have enough variety to dive into. What are your go-to websites for browsing?
Me waking up to a patch of the engine Operation Retrieval runs on: we are so barack
1h later, realizing only half of the issues were fixed: it's so joever
AND IT EATS
On another note, assuming the engine I'm using gets patched, I plan on releasing Operation Retrieval during the spooky season as well!
Do you dare enter...?
#pixelart I made for the cover image of a horror short story I wanna post on itch.io for the spooky season. Had a blast making it from beginning to end, #aseprite is absolutely amazing, even for total noobs like me!
Sounds fun! Could you send it over? :D
Game dev during summer is literal hell. Fans blasting at full power as my laptop struggles to run an Unreal sample project turns my room into an oven ☠️
I really just spent 2 days trying to fix an issue in Unreal Engine where I couldn't create any project due to faulty MSVC versioning. Turns out I just had to reset my configs in AppData 🤭
Laser league......
Operation Retrieval is pretty much done, however, the engine I'm working with will receive a major overhaul sometime down the line, so I'll have to rework some API calls. I'll see when the game is in a proper state to be launched, I expect latter half of this year.
When the math gets so abstract you start using graphs for visual debugging
Performance ain't really looking good though 💀. I hope I can figure out some tricks to improve it.
Implemented a rudimentary map generator to stress test performance, proud that I managed to in like 15 minutes. However, the map will 99% be handcrafted (just like the prototype), since I want the player to learn the map via landmarks.
Starting to shape up to something

Operator, we have a priority assignment for you. Infiltrate the entity's domain and collect data across the map so we can begin analysis.
