Trump Fires Pam Bondi as Attorney General

Trump didn't fire Bondi because she's bad. He fired her because she's not bad enough. She's insufficiently corrupt and hasn't been able to jail his critics.

Furiously finishing a book, getting ready for my trip to China, and digging through archives for my dad’s prison records from San Quentin, in case anyone’s wondering what passes for Friday around here.

One Friday the 13th, back in high school, I broke my arm playing soccer. I was such an incredibly gifted athlete that I managed to injure the one part of my body you’re not supposed to use in the sport.

It’s tragic, but not surprising, that GOP lawmakers who regularly ignore school shootings would also ignore a U.S. Tomahawk missile destroying a girls’ school and murdering 165 children.

My flight’s delayed again, so I’ll be rolling into Houston around 1:30 AM. Is there a combo rave/barbecue/rodeo still going somewhere, or does that not start until 2:30 AM?

Hello Houston! I'll be part of a community conversation following the afternoon performances this Saturday and Sunday. If you’re there, ask hard questions. Bring your aunt. Bring your book club. Bring that one friend who always says, “I don’t usually like historical fiction, but…”

Ahhh, the joy of reading all the love-filled Bad Bunny comments this morning. Pure sunrise energy. Warm, inevitable, and beyond argument.

Many of the people hating on Bad Bunny do so because they’re limited people living in an unlimited world. They’re either too self-centered or simply incurious. So they end up afraid of books they haven’t read, places they’ve never been, and people they’ve never met.

So…that was fun. And by “fun,” I mean I briefly thought a nuclear bomb had gone off somewhere within driving distance.

Andrea Gibson being alive felt like something from a higher plane had dropped into this grimy world and kept glowing anyway. A living proof-of-concept for what we could be if we were braver, kinder, and less afraid.

Wing Luke Museum: 2026 USA TODAY 10BEST Readers' Choice Awards Located in Seattle’s historic Chinatown-International District, the Wing Luke Museum is the only pan-Asian museum in the country. It's dedicated to sharing the histories, cultures, and experiences of ...

Two years ago, some creep showed up at the Wing Luke Museum screaming about Asians as he smashed windows with a sledgehammer. Now you can vote the Wing into the Top 10, which feels like the loudest possible reply.

Our daughter is a tattoo artist and for Christmas she tattooed the family. Some families do pajamas. We do permanent life choices.

Leesha lost her mom at 23. I lost both my parents by 32. A few years ago, we set up a small family shrine. It helps, especially on holidays. It gives grief somewhere soft to land. If you’ve lost someone, I can’t recommend it enough.

The Epstein files aren't the downfall of Trump. They're the autopsy of our legal system. Cause of death: rich men protecting themselves at the expense of victimized children and teens.

Have a weird holiday job memory? When I was 19, I worked as a portrait artist at Nordstrom in Seattle—posted up in the cosmetics department, sketching quick (and awful) portraits that came free with certain facial products.

Sometimes I think about Cary Grant, the man who looked like a Republican senator—dropping acid more than a hundred times in the '50s. While most of America was hosting Tupperware parties, dude was spelunking his psyche like it was a national park.

Mrs. Claus Keeps Changing — And It’s Redefining Who Gets to Be Magical The 99th Macy's Thanksgiving Parade has made history once again, thanks to the first East Asian Mrs. Claus.

My friend Lainie was Mrs. Claus in this year's Macy's Parade, delighting some parents, enraging others. Meanwhile her ethnicity went absolutely unnoticed by the only people who matter: children. Kids don't care. Just let Santa and Mrs. Claus live their best lives at the North Pole.
