Liberalism is an ideology. Centrism isn't. There is no such thing as centrist principles or a centrist society.

The Conservatives are who were defeated.
I would be extremely pumped for a actual NJ PWHL team.
I honestly didn't realize they play in NJ. I thought they were still mostly in CT. I followed the Riveters, especially after they rebranded from the New York Riveters to the Metropolitan Riveters. To go from that to a New York branded team that played in CT. I just never really got excited for them.
Me holding a protest sign that says "Conservatives have hated American liberty for 250 years".
Great crowd at the SOMA No Kings III rally in Maplewood, NJ. House candidate Analilia Mejia gave a nice speech too.
It's interesting that the ideals of Liberalism used to be described in masculine terms by the American founding generation.
"He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people." -DOI
Language like that is everywhere.
So, especially in 2026, given the choice between a generally Conservative candidate and a Generally Liberal candidate, the *most* pro-democracy choice can reasonably be interpreted to always be the generally Liberal candidate, even with a single pro/anti democratic idiosyncrasy. 4/4
And since Liberalism supports democracy generally, the supposedly Liberal candidate who supports a single undemocratic policy (despite that contradiction) seems likely to be a particular quirk of that candidate which, within a broadly Liberal system would not actually manifest in policy. 3/4
I'll presume that they support that position for a purely temporary and strategic reason within the overall project of implementing illiberal policies, which would lead to backsliding of democracy regardless. 2/4
In the candidate choice experiment it seems there is kind of an inherent idiosyncrasy.
Democracy is specifically a hallmark of Liberalism. If you tell me "this candidate is a Conservative except they support this one pro-democratic policy, I'm not going to presume they truly value democracy. 1/4
Every time I see stuff like this I remember how people used to say "both parties ultimately want the same thing and just disagree on how to get there."
Nope! Conservatism has always been an illiberal ideology that is fundamentally at odds with America, going all the way back to the revolution.
I guess it depends what you mean by "socialist" since it seems no 2 people have the same definition, but calling for more illiberal voices doesn't seem like a great idea just because they are differently illiberal from the Conservatives.
The console had lots of fun games.
Mario
2 Zeldas
GoldenEye
Mario Kart
Banjo Kazooie
2 Mortal Kombats
Diddy Kong Racing
Star Fox
Mario Party
Etc
Would I have liked to have seen another console generation of sprite graphics? Yes. But the N64 graphics were always enough to be enjoyable.
I brought my GameCube with me to college and while the XBoxes my friends had got more play overall, the GameCube shined in the common area with Resident Evil 4 and Smash Bros in particular.

Conservatism is about "conserving" the social hierarchies of pre-Enlightenment society. They have been fighting against Liberalization for literally centuries. The difference between an 18th century Conservative and a current one is just how much progress has Liberalism made for them to fight?
Wait, why would anyone not be enthusiastic about Lina Khan? She has been a major player in reviving anti-trust. She's fantastic, as far as I've seen. Am I missing something?
Holdup, I can't find the jerky thread and my opinions on it are almost as strong as my political views.
A lot of people are making jokes, but it's worth remembering that the thing being "Conserved" in "Conservatism" is the pre-Enlightenment social order.
Conservatism literally is at odds with classical Liberalism. Our Conservatives have just been more moderate and dog-whistley until now.
I am just blown away by what this woman went through and still had the composure to write down a message like this. It's like the American spirit can't help but radiate out of her.
They were afraid it would be done by Liberals. Everything Conservatives have been afraid of in our lifetimes has been because the state was an imperfect but fundamentally Liberal force in society. Conservatism is the ideology of monarchy. They don't believe in small government when they're in power.
Glad to see so many people showed up in Vauxhaul outside Home Depot today. Didn't grab a picture while I was there, but managed to quickly write some signs at red lights on the way.
Good-looking casserole.
Something that I've always found so odd, is that Conservatives cultivate this image of being like the founders, but it's this false version of the founders that were all tough brutes instead of intellectuals who were much more similar to today's Liberals that shy away from that heritage.

I couldn't pay my bills if I were elected to the NJ State legislature. That tells you a lot about the type of person who is even capable of running.
100% agree. Even while I served a short stint *on* the local party committee it felt very insular. Not being on the committee you wouldn't even know it existed outside of GOTV efforts.
