Loved #Inkbound by @prleathley.bsky.social
Philippa Leathley. Can't recommend enough. Granddaughter pored over the map & cover even tho' she's just 3. I explained she'd be able to read it herself when she's older. 'I bigger now. I seven,' she declared, settling down with the book. πππππ

Didn't think they could pull it out of the bag after Motherland, but...
Been a bit blue recently - the limitations of living with chronic illnesses sometimes does that to me. And then I'm seeing my granddaughter, a pterodactyl flying on Granddad's shoulders. And there it is, life in its fullness
More brilliant press coverage for @prleathley.bsky.social's brilliant sounding debut. Can't wait to get my hands on it

A picture from a newspaper review of INKBOUND showing the the cover of INKBOUND and the details that it's publishing with HarperCollins
It's been a gloriously exciting review weekend for Philippa Leathley's INKBOUND... Selected as Children's Book of the Week by @timeslucy.bsky.social in The Times yesterday, and a review in The Observer today...
Lovely.
I forget about this site - tend to focus on Instagram these days. What's that about age and new tricks?... Where in the North are you?
This popped up in my Facebook feed. Made me smile π

Hand holding up a copy of Insectarium in front of bookcases in Wonderland Bookshop.
Another non-fiction recommendation for today's Wonderland Christmas Countdown. It's day 9 and Mr Bookseller has picked out Insectarium by Emily Carter and Dave Goulson. This hardback book with beautiful illustrations is the perfect keepsake gift for the bug lovers. We recommend for ages 8+
The Darkest Night is randomly down to 99p on Kindle. I have no idea how long for, so grab it while you can! It opens with Ailsa driving home for Christmas only to find her grandfather has been attacked and her grandmother, Moira, is missing.

My time travel romance, Meet Me On The Bridge, is only 99p on kindle this December! πππ
Really enjoyed this.
The only elf on a shelf I accept is Legolas standing on a rocky shelf surveying the plains with his elf eyes.
Look what I got this morning - a stationery advent calendar!!!
Really proud to say that the Estonian translation of A Kind of Spark has been nominated for the annual Tower of Babel Honour Diploma. It's the most significant translation prize for children's fiction in Estonia and it also awards (quite rightly) the publisher and translator. Very proud of all of us
What wonderful news. Such an important book whilst also being a quality, engaging read. I'm so glad it's getting so much recognition. This is how change happens...
The joy that is being 3 yrs old...
From the UK's Society of Authors @societyofauthors.bsky.social here is a list of writers who are members of the Authors with Disabilities & Chronic Illness Group (ADCI) - set up by @clairerwade.bsky.social (thank you for Claire):

I'm not sure about # but have used them over here as I fumble my way around.
Reflected Shadows from outside of plants on my windowsill onto my bedroom wall surrounded by a halo of light.
Light and Shadow of open window reflected onto opposite wall and outside telegraph wires pointing towards a figure in a painting on the wall
Recent photos taken from bed. This room doesn't get any direct sunlight but it's often reflected off people's windows and cars, and ends up in here somehow.

Do hashtags even work here? I'm not sure how to do it.

#Autumn has finally arrived, dropping the temperature to reassuringly familiar levels. No snow here yet, but #Winter is nipping hard at autumn's heels.

I have this on my Kindle. Thanks for the reminder - I may listen rather than read.
π Possible! (But perhaps not probable...)
Here's a comic I made during Inktober 2018 in my sketchbook. #comics
We had a laburnum tree in the garden of one of the many houses my family lived in when I was a child. I'd worry constantly about eating a pod. That and foxgloves... Didn't occur to me I didn't need to worry, as, being so worried about poisoning myself, I wouldn't have dreamed of ingesting either π
