So the AI company who stole all of of books and now has to pay us what is really a small amount of money went about ti by AI coding the backend of their claim system, which scraped up data in clumps and spits out new numbers all the time because...it is AI coded. Anthropic: Nailing It.
It is such a fun game!
Hey everyone! You have until MARCH 30, 2026 to file a claim in the Anthropic Settlement.
If you have questions about filing--or if you aren't sure if you've filed correctly--call the settlement administrator at 1 877-206-2314.
It was a wild experience editing this one with the whole *arms gesture wildly* pandemic that has continued to affect our lives
okay so AI is absolutely cratering imminently and I need all of you to PROMISE me you won't take the high road, and will laugh and rub it in their faces as much as possible. I need you to laugh and go 'WE TOLD YOU SO, BITCH" at every opportunity, PLEASE be extremely mean and ruthless
I think you'd like it! I'm looking forward to the print release of volume 2! There's more out digitally if you're interested
Cover of Volume 1 of the manga Magical Girl Dandelion by Kaeru Mizuho. Its primary color is yellow and features a yellow and orange magical girl at the center with a shadowy figure behind her leering at the viewer.
I finished the first print volume of Magical Girl Dandelion, and I'm liking it so far! Eager to see which places the story takes us. It feels inspired by and in conversation with other magical girl series and tropes.
It's frustrating when these people call us Luddites. There are real benefits to technology in my field. I love working digitally. I love the regex tools people have made for Google Docs. I begrudgingly appreciate spellcheck. But at the end of the day, I'm still making the decision of what to do.
Creations and art are in conversation with another. We'll sometimes choose the things we do without realizing why, but that doesn't mean they're meaningless choices.
And if you can't be bothered to spend your time making something, then why should I be bothered to spend my time engaging with it?
Particularly in creative fields, why would you relinquish the thinking, the chewing over your words, the choice of words you use over to not even someone else but someTHING else?
I become increasingly concerned about the normalization of LLMs. Certainly, the branding of them as "AI" has made them feel cooler, but that's not all.
There's a very smart person I know who's a talented writer who's turned to this technology for blogging. And it just boggles my mind.
As you use AI to simplify easy yet mundane tasks, like writing emails, you get increasingly dependent on it.
You get lazy, less skilled, use your brain less, and (you may not want to hear this) get stupider as a result.
Donβt let them take away your ability to think. Stop using it. Now.
"you need to learn how to use gAI or you'll get left behind!"
counterpoint!
the absolute fastest way to render yourself unemployable is to build your skillset around a tool that does your thinking for you, that everyone has access to, and that one company can change or take away at any time
And in that instance with Noem, it also isn't even an Orwell quote. He wrote, "Those who abjure violence can do so only because others are committing violence on their behalf."
It's from Notes on Nationalism, and it's a scathing look at how people rely on government to do evil for their benefit.
I am going to have an aneurysm one day with the amount of Republicans misusing Orwell's writing.
if i was Kristi Noem i simply would not quote Orwell
Manga companies, please pay us $8/page!
The small and new publishers can do it, surely the big companies with owners who make $3 million+ per year can afford it too!!

I really dislike "Journal with Witch" being the translation for ιε½ζ₯θ¨ (Ikoku Nikki)
itβs genuinely reassuring to me that this is the most miserable and paranoid person in the entire world
feeling angry or depressed? why not fix yourself a cup of tea? then you can be angry and depressed while also holding a cup of tea
Jeff Bezos took over the Washington Post Editorial Board and turned it into a mouthpiece for pro-corporate, pro-billionaire propaganda.
Now, WaPo is laying off hundreds of *real* journalists β including the reporter covering Amazon.
Democracy dies in billionaire hands.
IASIP meme: "I've had enough of this dude," but with a portrait of Bezos
always bears repeating that this is NOT a financial decision. jeff bezos is worth over 250 billion dollars. he can afford to lose many millions and never even notice it. this is, at its core, a political and personal decision by bezos to destroy the post
