I have always thought that the settlements feel precisely like Florida urban sprawl.

There should be just as much political pressure on elected officials to condemn Islamophobia and anti-Palestinian racism as there is to condemn antisemitism.
Photo of a JDL member holding a sign saying "no more Jewish victims. Keep synagogues safe. Vote for 100 foot buffer zones/"
A JDL member was arrested for attempting to assassinate Palestinian activist Nerdeen Kiswani. Yesterday, JDL members were outside City Hall calling for the council to pass buffer zone bills & they testified last month for the bills, using disgusting anti-Palestinian racism & Islamophobic rhetoric.
I can imagine Dr. Butler from their current perch in Greece writing very convincingly why we need to do away with AI entirely. Then, thousands of years in the future, having those sacred scriptures be rediscovered and used as inspiration for an anti-AI revolution.
May we let our hands be guided towards building a world in which no families are viewed as acceptable casualties of war; no community viewed as targets for revenge; where each person's offerings compound into a peaceful meeting place with the Divine.

We can keep building calves, or we can build mishkanot, collective tabernacles of safe, honest, and humble community by both refusing the equation of Jewish life with Israeli state power, and practicing Judaisms aligned with the values of solidarity, justice, and humility. 9/
This creates a false equation that endangers Jews and misrepresents Judaism. Violence directed at Jewish communities in response to the state of Israel's actions is a calf leapts from the fires of antisemitism stoked by that conflation. 8/
No people attending worship, education, and community should be targeted. Jewish sites have become so, in part, by a decades-long pattern: Jewish institutions, through symbols and statements, conflate Jewish identity and religious communities with political support for the state of Israel. 7/
Moses, a humble leader, takes responsibility for what he cannot do alone. He follows God's guidance, and after the whole community has contributed to the project, he acts with humility, and the Mishkan rises because it was built collectively with honesty, integrity, and humility. 6/
The tragedy golden calf is what happens when communal leadership evades responsibility, like Aaron, who claimed the idol formed itself from gold and leapt whole out of the fire, rather than accept his integral role in its creation. 5/
When the pieces are complete, God directs Moses to go through the motions of constructing it alone, even though the pieces are too heavy for one person to compile. God does the actual work of moving the pieces, while Moses is made publicly responsible through miming the action. 4/
Last week's Torah portion gave us the golden calf, a disaster born of desperation and corruption. This week is its answer: the Mishkan, built piece by piece, collectively and transparently, through the labor of the whole community. 3/
Ayman Ghazali had lost family in an American-Israeli airstrike days earlier. That grief explains much, and excuses nothing. But denouncing violence without examining the structures that lead to it only ensures more of it. This week's parashah shows us a better way. 2/
Vayakhel-Pekudei: Constructing an Honest Mishkan
On Thursday, a man drove his truck into a synagogue in an indefensible attack on that community. His grief had erupted into antisemitic violence. We must be honest about what precipitates this sort of attack in order to prevent them. 1/
Thank God the people of Temple Israel in West Bloomfield are safe. May the security guard who was injured heal quickly.
This is another painful reminder of the increasing violence of our world. May we soon see the dawn of a day when all people, in solidarity and care, exist together peacefully.
Can confirm- participated in MANY active shooter trainings in synagogues.

Additionally, I want to speak directly to Iranian New Yorkers: you are part of the fabric of this city — you are our neighbors, small business owners, students, artists, workers, and community leaders. You will be safe here.
leading the charge against antisemitism by endorsing the criminal actions of a deeply unpopular president in pursuit of a war deeply unpopular with the american people on behalf of a country that interferes in u.s. elections in support of right-wing extremists
This is disgusting. How dare you purport to represent Reform Judaism.
It should go without saying that the realization of Bibi and Bolton's decades-long dreams of a war with Iran is a horrific reality to wake up to, and also I hope folks don't lose sight of the war being waged on trans people in the USA right now. We can fight both! www.aclukansas.org/publications...
this bill is legitimately a three-alarm fire. if they manage to define trans existence as explicit then there is nothing stopping them from genocide. i need every single cis person talking about this, calling their reps, getting out in the streets.
Your coup story is going to play a central role in my weekly drash!
So much for the tolerant left.
I mean, this was how antisemitism was designed to function in medieval and early modern Europe. I do think, though, that for a great number of people today “the Jews” aren’t at the top of their conspiracy list.
