It's amazing how if you make a physical or digital space accessible 99/100 that improves the experience for everyone & it's maddening how often accessibility is viewed as an eye rolling afterthought

Big mood, hope they're doing okay! At the weekend my daughter split her lip & hit her head (tights, speed, wooden floors) and I fell down some stairs, fell on a piece of concrete & then somehow attempted to pass through a bannister. We are both a bit battered this week

“In the future everyone loves and does art but they are incredibly bad” is lowkey an extremely hopeful utopian vision

I have said this before but sadly it bears frequent repeating: the existence of trans people benefits us all, benefits society as a whole, is a beautiful thing, and must be protected at all costs. Trans rights are vital and uncompromisable human rights and would be even if this weren’t the case.

Taken 2 days off from the washing and the basket is overflowing what the fuck??

Why is adulthood just a neverending carousel, everyone talks about the struggle in having to feed yourself everyday the real tyranny is in having to produce and locate clean clothing everyday

My brother in law tried to order a Long Island ice tea on holiday and was told 'its not the evening, nor is this a club' by a very grumpy French waiter

I genuinely don't understand how the banning smoking for certain age groups doesn't fall afoul of age discrimination laws?? It's a wild thing to be doing anyway but I really don't get how it's legal?

Comic: Types of Board Game. [Each panel has a person, a person with a ponytail, a person with shoulder-length hair, and a person with a white hat seated around a table with different board game and pieces on top. (1) Boring: PERSON 3: Each turn, roll a die and move your token. Turns proceed clockwise around the table until we all get tired and go home. (2) Abstract: PERSON 1: Each turn, you can place any number of red triangles or blue squares on a hexagon, or move any hexagon to a... (3) Hyperspecific Theme: PERSON 2: It’s October 2, 1814. The Congress of Vienna convenes. You are each in charge of distributing and lighting candles for the opening ball, which was held at these three locations... (4) Overcomplicated: PERSON 4: It’s a cross between *Twilight Imperium* and *Cones of Dunshhire*, but implemented entirely in category theory. Every cone is a monad, and... (5) Cooperative: PERSON 3: We’re working together to sort these decks of cards using only hand gestures. After that, we’ll silently organize my junk drawer. (6) Branded: PERSON 1: You can play as Phoebe, Chandler, Monica, Rachel, Ross, Joey, or, due to an ill-advised tie-in, Goku. (7) Party: PERSON 2: Each of the cards in your hand has a bad word on it. On the count of three, yell the... (8) Social Deduction: PERSON 3: Remember, per our *find the secret murderer* house rules from last week, discovering that a player has committed a real-life murder does *not* count.

I have thought I was ghosted only to discover a few years later I actually accidentally did the ghosting and every time my brain reminds me of it (several times a month as my brain is a little bitch) I want to walk into the sea

The 30s are the new 20s for having babies The data behind the US "record low" births headlines are more nuanced than they appear

Another nice explainer from demographer @drjenndowd.bsky.social on how to interpret statistics on birth rates:

“most demographers expect completed cohort fertility rates will trend downwards, but not as dramatically as the birth rate “crisis” narrative implies”

Attention span is a bit dodgy but not too bad right?

Wrong!

Just became aware I was sumultaneously:

- listening to a podcast
- listening to the radio
- playing a game on my phone
- reading an article on my work intranet about Deaf Awareness week
- drinking tea & thinking about next cup of tea

We're legitimately considering hiring a skip, we have soooo much stuff that we can't sell or even give away and the house is getting alarmingly full. And we didn't even buy most of it, it's mostly gifts or handmedowns!

As far as I can work out the fact it was diverting somewhat and thus took an hour longer was untenable and thus obviously 2 extra changes of train that would have saved me 10 whole minutes was the better option???

3 days ago 0 0 1 0

Still somewhat bemused by the fact I was anticipating 3 train changes today as informed by all rail websites, but when I got on the train at Birmingham it did indeed just... go to the stop I was travelling to
