Everybody has loved it.
“Cuts to federal agencies and grants for museums and libraries will have a large impact on the Kentucky Humanities Council and the ability of Appalshop to preserve its flood-damaged historic archives of the region.”
The worst part is that there were people in lots of these states really busting their asses to try to overcome all of the gerrymandering, disenfranchisement, and voter intimidation. And the response is “lol u voted for it.”
It is simply a real mistake to let the evil heartless people in the world cause you to become more evil and heartless
I've picked up a lot of new Bluesky friendos in the last couple days, so I need to provide this disclaimer: following this account may cause existential dread, rectal bleeding, panic at the disco, Falling Down Syndrome, 848-AB, the yips, and delusions of elfhood

A lot of center-left intellectuals and pundits actively prefer the company of fascists, who flatter them and pose delightfully naughty questions and are cool and exotic to their "woke" colleagues who are often younger and more annoying and who try to make you feel guilty about stuff.
"Recent studies by the Prison Journalism Project [(@prisonjournalism.bsky.social)] and the Prison Policy Initiative [(@prisonpolicy.org)] show that many states have passed laws or regulations that explicitly restrict prison journalism, including ... bans on receiving compensation for [our] work."
If you think workers will report their injuries to OSHA, think again. They asked that I not share any identifying details that could lead to their visas being revoked. Visa holders are so nervous, they’re asking friends to go to the grocery store for them. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

We're disappointed to see Ben Barres's powerful book "The Autobiography of a Transgender Scientist" among the ~400 titles removed from the Naval Academy Library. Needless to say, we're proud to have published his book and will keep it — and his memory — alive.
Good summary of what's happening today -- stocks and US treasuries *both* sinking at the same time.
Potentially implies fed has little ability to help stimulate with lower interest rates, and, increases interest payments in current US budget.
Language ys a roade through tyme. Everye worde a daunse of manye pasts and multiple futures. Everythinge chaunginge, gloriouslye. Usage, spellinge, syntax - varied and varyinge, wythout hierarchye or judgmente. And everye chaunge ys welcome. Except for "impact" as a verbe. That ys just wretched.

OK, non-finance people: crash course in bonds. Bond prices and yields moving opposite directions. Yields on US govt bonds [“treasuries”] are surging (ie the prices are falling). Prices are falling because people are selling treasuries at a massive clip.
Normally, in a crisis, US gov’t bond yields fall because they are (were) considered the safest investment possible. Now, yield are suddenly rising. This indicates a couple things, but most critically: Risk premium for US debt surging. Investors view US debt as much more risky than the did a week ago
