Hell yeah, great wine.

No cage? What kind of maniac...
@maddow.bsky.social Kyle is doing a great job.
???
Do you support abolishing ICE?
When did that stop being, like, the whole damn job?
Agreed.
Serious, not trolling question: what does a good candidate, in your view, look like? Mamdani is a good test case... Is he a good candidate? How about Sanders in 2016?
Buncha coward man babies. Sucks living in a country with people who suck that bad.
That's pretty much exactly what I said--portugal and Slovenia (pretty well represented in CO) specifically, small producers without giant marketing budgets to support.
I feel like Sichel out of Margaux is always a good bang for the buck.
When I go to a bar that serves this plate I must have it no matter the time of day. Abs if it was $100, I might still do it.
Pricing is always great on their whole book too!
The Blanc? 2019? Rocking.
EXCELLENT producer!
Hey Cory--DO. SOMETHING.
DO SOMETHING MORE THAN TALKING. If this is a defining moment, you are all failing to live up to it. Shut down business, march to the White House steps, SOMETHING. And then, do something else, and then another thing!
One of the best episodes of one of the best podcasts there is.
This shit is crazy. If I remember the 80s right, Moms were drinking Riunite on ice, not chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, etc. This article is insane and makes me feel insane.
Yeah, I feel like the fairly strict regulations around lots of exported French wine make it a pretty logical starting point... You know better what you're getting if nothing else.
Someone who wants to buy a good bottle, but just has serious budget limitations? I think a lot of wine's near future might hinge on answering this question, if we can!
So I gave her some suggestions that would be closer to her price range, as one does.
Here's the question: what suggestions would YOU make to that kid? Are there any large-ish production wineries, specific affordable regions, etc. that you go to with a nascent wine drinker like this?
I was talking to a friend of my daughter's who is a hospitality major at a great university (I'll leave the wisdom of that decision for another day) and she admitted to buying Barefoot regularly... Sad, but on a student budget, understandable.
Important question, I think: we all love our special small production/winemaker driven/super interesting favorite wine discoveries. And I think many of us, thanks to our professions in the business, get to drink things that would normally be out of reach financially for us (I know I do!)
I think there's an excellent argument to be made that all wine lists (in the US especially!) could be built by varietal... People who know wine already know what they're looking at, while people with less knowledge could actually use what they know.
I got guesses, what's the order ๐๐
it's important this go as viral as the original story for morale purposes if nothing else. despite the image they project these people are NOT unaccountable. consequences CAN be forced. focused anger and outrage MATTERS.

Major Wine Exporters' Dependency on the US Market, 2023.
France exports wine worth $2.35 billion to the U.S., which accounts for 18.4% of its total export value. As a share of their national wine exports, NZL (37.8%), Argentina (26.7%), and Italy (22.7%) are more exposed to the US than France
