Image of trees behind black background. Text reads, “This administration is spending ~$1 billion PER DAY on war. Meanwhile, all 433 national parks sites operate on just ~$9.5 million per day. 3-4 days of war spending equals 1 year of national parks. This isn't about affordability, it's about priorities.”

Defunding America’s Best Idea.
The proposed FY2027 budget includes a ~25% cut to the National Park Service, along with major reductions to other public land agencies.
Great news but...Maybe dont use "roadmap" as a metaphor if we're trying to phase out (de-normalize) fossil fuels (and their infrastructure).
Every single one of these videos should be shot in a car or at the airport on the way back to Washington, not in a leafy backyard. Where’s the urgency?
what a cool article! need to go check on my Nikon in the closet...
Map of the contiguous United States showing the spring bloom index anomaly as of April 5, 2026 from the USA National Phenology Network. Many areas are earlier than normal.
"Spring bloom has been mostly early across the country, with central states seeing conditions for bloom 2-5 weeks early than a long-term average (1991-2020). Denver, CO is 35 days early, and Nashville, TN is 17 days early."

I just got an email pushing a new book, and ... I'm not going to call out the book itself, cause I don't wanna ruin anyone's day, but ... I am going to subtweet it.
It's yet another book on how the problem with climate change is ... the way we talk about it! "Framing"! "Messaging"!
Changing the language is not THE solution, but its part of 1. dissolving power - (stop using their words and symbols, eg "pipeline" as metaphor) and 2. imagining a new reality into being ("combat climate change" vs....)

A very thorough article that mentions how long it takes to create and install signage - usually a multiyear process of intention and collaboration and layers of review.
whoa
in rural Maine, where commutes are longest, we dont need massive new infrastructure. we need electric buses - cheaper and the roads are already there.
thank you!
Recognizing that people have unmet needs/explore ostensibly convenient technology that is being heavily marketed at them is one thing -- calling it "useful" plays into the narrative of not just Big Tech but also the EA money behind the article at the top of this thread.

Goo morning, monsters.
The mist holds out its invitation back to the water. Come home. Come be held. Follow through the beading moisture to the shore and let it direct a new form, wriggling and gleaming, propelled by appendages that keep a body distant from every terrestrial worry.
View of a large 800 yr old olive tree in Valldemossa, Mallorca, a cornerstone of the UNESCO-listed Tramuntana mountain landscape, with many trees being over 1,000 years old. Grown on historic drystone terraces, these ancient, gnarled trees produce high-quality organic oil. Known as the tree of life. ❤️🇪🇸
