La Toya Jackson - Reunion With Bubbles (June 2010)
La Toya Jackson - Reunion With Bubbles (June 2010) YouTube video by PureToy

All this Michael Jackson chat has reminded me of the time, a year after his death, La Toya went to visit Bubbles, possibly to get some kind of closure or something. Bubbles wasn't having any of it though.

I wonder if the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic will explain why that song is called Thriller? I mean, it's all about beasts, ghouls, zombies & werewolves so it should really be called Horror, shouldn't it? Nobody refers to Vincent Price as the great thriller actor, do they? Always annoyed me that.

A friend used to work in a garage in Liverpool and would regularly wash/fill up Barnes' car. He noticed he always had one of those Corinthian bobble-head things of himself on top of the dashboard. What can you say? The man just loves weird inaccurate depictions of himself!

Happy 80th to Tim Curry.

This - a rare role in a straightforward drama - is still probably my favourite of his. The kind of obnoxious real-life horror gliding through life consequence-free knowing their class and status will protect them. He nails it.

(I'm sure he's not like that himself though!)

Have you seen The Reflecting Skin? Weirdo British writer's sinister/grotesque child's eye view of small-town '50s America. The sort of thing Milligan and Delano (and, uh, maybe that other guy) used to regularly bring to the party.

He probably quotes Tarantino's character in it in private.

I'm fairly certain (although happy to be corrected) that What Goes On is the only Beatles song which took THREE of them to write.

They threatened her with a 5-minute laser & lightshow introduction rather than the 20 minute one she asked for so she bailed.

The bit in Bicycle Race where Freddie sings "I don't wanna be the president of America" and the backing vocals go "Wooooo!!" like it's a really shocking admission. Guys, he was never gonna be eligible so I don't know why you're acting like he "went there".

The ladies (and also some men, of course 👍) really go for the stand-in regional sports presenter from 1979 look.

I was thinking recently, with deaths of Watkins and Huntley and the long shadow cast by Brady, that the name Ian seems to have remained untainted by horrific associations (By contrast, the name Myra is unlikely to ever get a revival). I'm sure all the Andrews of this world will be fine.

Always quite admired Hamill for, at the height of his Star Wars fame, taking a small role in Lindsay Anderson's Brittania Hospital as a guy who spends the film mostly getting stoned & laughing at vivisection films. Not really a fan of him posting obviously fake pics to his million+ followers though.

On the one hand, this sounds a little extreme. On the other (which doesn't have six fingers): 100% yes.

I never saw Basic Instinct 2 but I did meet somebody once who'd worked as a PA for one of the actors in it (Not Stan Collymore). Their main job was driving him home every night and stopping off at the off-licence to get him a six-pack of Special Brew. Not a happy shoot!

Screenshot of Stan Collymore's IMDb biography:

Stan Collymore was regarded by some as one of the most gifted, charismatic and outspoken soccer players of his or any generation. After several high profile, multi-million pound moves in English soccer, and scoring some of the most amazing goals in recent football history, combined with a highly intuitive mind, natural screen charisma and athleticism, he decided to make the break from pro sports, and move into his second love, movies.

After being quoted as wanting to be "the first black James Bond", in a tongue-in cheek magazine interview, casting agents and directors alike sat up and started taking the Maverick from the Midlands seriously, especially after his 2004 critically acclaimed autobiography, Tackling my Demons saw Collymore as an intelligent, multi-talented phenomenon, rather than the one dimensional character that had seen him grab the front pages of the UK tabloids as often as the back.

One thing is for certain, it seems that after his movie debut in 2005 alongside Sharon Stone,in the eagerly awaited Basic Instinct 2 sequel, Stan Collymore's talents are as diverse as his persona.

Collymore's IMDb biography - written by 'Anonymous' (lol) - is pretty amazing.

(Worth noting that - despite both casting agents and directors alike sitting up - Basic Instinct 2 remains his only acting credit)
