And that's not to say that we've gotten ANY better, my last hometown was a known drop off point for people just getting out of jail. No family, no job? They literally just dump you at a bus station in Hagerstown, where you'll likely get victimized, abused or suffer homelessness, the spiral continues
Its also much easier to do this than to face the systemic consequences of that mental illness/substance abuse issue coming from us not following through on deinstitutionalization in the 70s We literally dumped a bunch of mental sick people out into the street what did we think would happen?
